Hi Guys

Guys i am really waiting for these drives as it looks killer to me.

If any one of u guys comes across these anywhere please update the availability and its cost here.

If its taking too long i might go for the segate 500GB which is doing 88MB/s

But this WD is too hard to resist.

you showed the screeny of the 320GB HDD & it is not necessary for the 640GB to perform the same :)

why do u think so , it will be having the same platter.

Guys thinking of the single platter 320gb be aware.

It does not come as a surprise that the first drive from WD to utilize the 320GB per-platter technology is the Caviar SE16 320GB WD3200AAKS. What is surprising to us is that WD is not changing the product designation on drives that feature this new technology. It's not really that surprising as a manufacturer will want to clear out inventory of previous product before introducing new product. We would like to see WD following Seagate, Hitachi, or Samsung by changing model numbers when there is a major switch in product technology.
Ordering a WD3200AAKS could land you the new drive or the older design with two 160GB platters. Since only the part number changes in this case, the one you want is WD3200AAKS-00B3A0. For all intent purposes this means you need to find a dealer that carries OEM drives and will guarantee this particular part number is available. It's either that or take your chances with a retail package. WD started shipping these drives in mass at the end of January so odds are that retail kits will contain mixed stock at best.

i agree 120mb/sec is wooping speed but i dont think it would be cheap enough ill buy a cheaper disc with 75mb speed rather than spending on 120mb if its priced more than 500 buks above it...As far as i know i do spend time in traffics than i can waste time on low speed too it will hardly matter few more seconds

750gb drives are around the 7k mark, i saw some one post the exact cost in the general hardware section today , check it out

will mostly get it tomm. or day after tomm.

Also there are extreme reaction on this hdd.

Ppl who are happy are really happy , and some ppl are completely hating it.

68% ppl look satisfied which looks good.

Eazy , i am reading the newegg reviews.

Poor , Very poor category

They were

1.> all DOA

2.> crashed while formating for the first time

3.> while installing os for the first time

4.> some users said , some grinding noise came.

^^^ you will find these type of bad reports on all hardwares. Check the Seagate HDD reviews and you should see similar bad reports. I do not know of any hardware which gets 100% good reviews :)
