Here is a suggestion...

Many folks (esp. the SMEs) around here are tired of seeing posts like "which 8K gfx card to buy"
or "I want to share internet between by dekstop and laptop" or "What audio setup for 20K" kind of threads and after answering similar posts some 10 times, they lose interest and don't bother to post back

what's even worse is that some n00bs would reply back to such threads with inane answers like buy my Fx5200 or setup a proxy server on the desktop or get a Sony MHC301 whatever

Long time back, Zhopudey had started collecting a list of linkies for the most common Tech FAQs but he obviously could not do it alone....

WHy don't we ask people to volunteer for 1 section each, and compile a list of FA Q&A and sticky that on top of each section....

And if someone creates a new thread still, just link that to the FAQ sticky and close the thread
 
Yes. its a good Idea.
Particural posts (which got good information) from some threads can also be collected and added to the Sticky thread.
Such sticky thread can be made into Articles. So that the members can read the articles before posting a question.

its a great idea and its been done before but always seems to die out along the way. imo theres no need to nominate anyone , let it be a voluntary effort rather than forcing someone to do it. so whoever is willing can go ahead and create a thread and others chip in with their tidbits. all mods are here to provide any assistance that you need (making it a sticky/editing/cleanup) . will try to see if i can do something from my side as well.

Jus let dem ask a question let d thread develope,, n den d admin can put it all together n make it a sticky!!!!!
 
Yeah you can have a thread where members can ask questions where they are afraid like what is raid0 and how to setup sli stuff like that

I think, the whole forum is for those kind of questions only. Isnt it?
The idea here is to make good threads and posts sticky, so that eveyone can read before asking the same question again and again (if same question is asked again and again means, the knowledged ones will loose interest to answer it again and again).

Unfortunately, we cannot have too many stickies. Thus, one sticky with maybe multiple posts on multiple topics relating to the section with each post with links to the respective threads is a better idea. Thats what I think Superczar's post implied.

I had thought of making a thread of that sort sometime back... Just never found the time :( Coll is reallly hectic.. Will probably try compiling something slowly ..
