Weird FIREFOX 2.0 Error

hay guys, donno if this is the right place to post... but i m getting a very strange error when i try to launch firefox.
weird part is that this is the first time ive installed firefox on my laptop... and im getting this error... what can the prob be...

ive provided a pic of the error,...
basically it says "Firefox is already running,but is not responding. to open a new window, u must first close the existing firefox process,or restart your system"

so i started the taskmanager and ended firefox process... then started it again the same error.

ive tried resinstalling it ..but the same error...
what might be causing this... any idea?

This was a error occurring when java applets were run in Firefox. However it was fixed in ver 1.6 i think.

Can u provide more info regarding ur sys specifications?
 
This could happen after firefox ended unexpectedly ( for whatever the reason is ) , and could happen in one of the following situations :

1. your profile is corrupted

2. history in firefox gatehrs too much space

3. switching between safe mode and normal mode too often, casuing one of the above two situations.

This first problem usually does not keep recurring . You just need to end process as you did ,and it should work again the next time. as for dealign with the second problem i think the best option would be to take a backup of ur bookmarks . and then delete your exisitng profile + history by navigating to
(c): \ windows \ application data \ Mozilla \ Profiles

first look for a file called "parent.lock" . If it exists delete it .and try working . if problem still persissts delete the profiles folder itself ,and the next time you restart firefox ,it should create a new fresh profile . (which is why backing up bookmarks might be a good idea just in case ) . You might also want to have a glance at this page for other network and access rights issues ,but my guess is that the profiles are corrupt .
