weird RA2 cd

hey all,

My friend gave me RA2 to play... i thot it'd be fun.. to run it on my (relatively) new system. It's an original copy. I insert "Allied Disc" to install... it starts all excellently... at 50% it doesn't ask for disk 2.. i think maybe 55% ... not there... it installs 100% from 1 disc only and says ready to play.... (weird)

i start the game... after loading screen.. the screen goes blank... and i have to resort to Ctrl Alt Del... the cpu usage showed 100%.... then i ended the prog...

i tried reinstalling.... same prob....

then i inserted Soviet disc (after uninstalling and all...) it also installs 100% and after i start the game all goes blank after the loading screen...

once... i left it as it is after the loading screen to see if it was really loading... 15 minutes and no result....( my comp is defnly NOT that slow... 1gb ram for starters... for ra2 that shud be supersonic speed hehe)

so what do y'all think....

write in with all ur prognoses....diagnoses..etc...

I guess the Disc might have weared out due to usage....It happens on original discs....how old is the disc???
 
5 6 years.... he got it when it came out i guess....

he dint play at all.... ( just 5 allied missions taht;'s all) then it was lyiong untouched...

i was offended at this insult and brought it home..... the cd is scratchless.... practically new...

now pls dont say it's cuz of disuse.. hehe.....
 
M not sayin it but might be...cos life cycle of a Disc is around 5-6 yrs, sometimes it even exceeds dat if properly used.....See I am only givin u my experiences....even when you burn an excellent quality disc like Sony or TDK etc...they have certain lifecyle after which the film on the disc gets old & unreadable....well its just my experience m sharing...others might have somethin else spk on it...Also I have my 3yr old Disc's of hindi movies(Original) also few games like AirlineTycoon, Age of empire...they dont run quite well now....
 
update the game to the latest version,1.4 or 1.6 i think,it may run then..if not try downloading a nocd crack that may help..

Alright.. Btw.. The game installs with just one disc.

Ive lost my CD's but Id kill to find them. Heh.

Alright, when you try to launch the Game. Set Compataibility Mode to Windows 95/98/2000.. Any of them.. Itll work fine :).

yeah i realised the game installs with one disc only... i installed on another comp.. works fine... without even setting compatibility mode etc..... on mine even after setting compatibility it doesn't work....

i'll try using a nocd... and fro where do i get "latest" versions???
 
i meant "Latest" versions of the game.. 1.4 etc.. that were mentioned...

come ON guys... this is getting REAL frustrating... the game crashes during the west wood studio animation !!!! i have no idea why... someone pls pm me a link for an RA2 crack... i've only been able to find yuris revenge craks wherever i go....

still i cant fathom why the ori cant work. esp in MY comp but runs on my friends OLD comp..dammit...
 
Well... i did the needful...

i tell u.. there is nothin wrong with the game... it is RUNNING on my frenz comp AS IT IS!!!

here it is CRASHING AT THE WESTWOOD STUDIOS ANIMATIONS:@ god knows why and i'm angry:@ and frustrated :S :huh: and have half a mind to shove this cd up my friend's "cd case":@ :@ :@ :@ :@ :@
 
im not sure if this is gonna help u but give it a try anyway,i have attached a file ,if this doesnt work try updating ur codecs,sometimes a game crashes if it doesnt have the right codecs to play the media file and i know this is quite silly but try updating ur directx to the latest runtimes,and hey if u can pls post ur config

u seem to have inadvertently attached a keygen.... which is of no use to me....but thanx anyway for tryin... help appreciated....

i already have 1.006....

i dont care abt versions.... what i'm wondering is.... why in the name of all things good does it run on a P4, 865gbf 256ram.... and NOT on mine.... what settings to i need to turn on/off.. in order to run it.. and why the heck is it CRASHING at Westwood animation.... of course i have all codecs.... i have k-lite codec pack... recently downloaded....

this is one baffling problem... mite turn out to be something stupidly basic... keep suggesting stuff guys.....

help appreciated!!!!

u mean cd rom drive???

not a chance.... if it were malfuntioning WHY WOULD IT INSTALL????

in any case nothing wrong with drive.. am reading / writing as efficiently as ever... playing fifa with ori dvd.... no probs ther...
 
if not cd rom drive.... nothin wrong with hard drive too....

i have a 40gb ide... running ahem copy of Hl2 ep 1...

i also have an external 250gb usb hard disk ( housing a seagate barracuda ) running Farcry from that hdd.. nor probs there too....
 
Dunno buddy....i faced the same problems long time back.....but overcame it by formatting the installation drive...see if it helps u...
