OK if you are planning so,use special filters for your camera.
direct exposure to eclipse will damage lens of the camera.

IS it okay to watch the sun through the digicam's LCD screen..? I believe it is safe, because only an image is created on the screen, and no direct sunrays are involved, but I need some confirmation.

@tech hunter: Are you sure the eclipse will damage lenses without filters..? As such they are just glass lenses, so I'm not really sure..
EDIT: It is in fact safe to watch the sun thorugh the cam's LCD screen. DO NOT WATCH THROUGH THE OPTICAL VIEWFINDER OF THE CAM.

yes ,I'm aware of that :)

heat can crack the lens and more importantly it can damage my eyes .

List of solar eclipses in the 21st century - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Even if you stay in India there is gonna be a total solar eclipse on

March 20, 2034

On which day incidentally .. I will turn 45 .. OMG!

i've seen this Wikipedia earlier.
But electronic media is boasting that it's the last solar eclipse of our life time(in India).
any way if the same phenomenon occurs again it would be gr8.

News & Rumors

The maximum time any one can experience Total Eclipse is hardly few minutes.

That too with so many precautions and special glasses.

But how about enjoying the Eclipse hours together without any obstacles that too with naked eye.

Sounds interesting??

A Boeing 737-200 flight will take scientists and passengers chasing the solar eclipse.

And you don't have to worry about your eyes, as the moon will be your umbrella during that time.:hap2:

The aircraft window seats which will get a direct view of the eclipse cost Rs 79k.

The other seats costs Rs 29k where the passengers view the shadow.:wtf:

you can buy these tickets from Cox&Kings

Tsunami was predicted on the day of eclipse,July 22 2009 at 3:00PM Local Japanese time two level 5+ Earthquakes and a Tsunami between 5:00PM and 7:00PM. The tsunami will start out in the pacific ocean (to the South East of Japan ... Along the fault line) and hit all the islands to the south west of Japan, Indonesia and even reach Papua New Guinea. The major quakes will actually be along the fault lines in the Ocean.SOURCE

yOu can get solar glasses or fliter whatever you say from planeturum for Rs 15-25 only

I fear your post has come too late, as the planetarium is closed today :(

I think i might give this a miss. welders googgles are prolly going to be much more than i plan to spend for a 5 minute event.

Success :)

Got the goggles from a guy selling them outside Visweshwarya Museum here in Bangalore for the princely sum of Rs.15

Made by a Pune company called Galaxy scientific with some local contact nos.

The planetarium here did not have them, so i guess any science musuem in your city should do.

It was a total flop in Indore. Monsoon clouds blocked almost everything. And it started raining too. The only change we could realise was an obvious increase in darkness for a very short period, but that could very well have been attributed to the monsoon itself.. :P
