Hello everyone!

i have been plagued by one doubt since some months, and haven't been able to find answer to it (or didn't try well enough). i sincerely hope i could get it cleared here now.

i have a set of Wharfedale Diamond 10.DFS (DiPole) speakers, and a F&D F5090 HTS. i wanted to know if the DFS speakers could be used with the F&D system as its rear speakers safely or not. i have tested the DFS in the same combination once-twice, and couldn't differentiate much between the sound-output from the rear-speakers of the F&D system & the DFS, except that the sound-output from the DFS seems to be more widespread & clear (power of the output being more or less same, understandably). i believe that with the F&D, the DFS would be underused, and i also have no immediate plan to buy an AVR.

please let me know if it would be safe, and if not, then why; and whether am correct in assuming that the DFS will be under-utilised when combined with the F&D.

thanks!

1. It should put out some sound.

2. It may not be an ideal match if the amp in the F&D is a Class D amp (no way to easily tell without an interior shot). For Class AB amp, it'll be fine.

3. The Diamonds are quite a few leagues above the F&D. Not even the same planet.

Did you have a separate stereo amp before? Any specific reason you would want to plug the bookshelves to the receiver of an HT unit? Other than the experimenting part i.e.

@ cranky - yes, that is why i have been thinking of selling off the Wharfedales, and hence the query, as combining them with a subjacent amp/system doesn't exactly seem to yield a charming result.

@ gannu - i have a separate stereo (2.0) amp as well (any way by which the F&D and DFS could be combined through such an amp?); reason for using the DFS with the HT unit is solely to use better rear speakers, though i believe that the receiver is driving the DFS to give the same output as is the case with the receiver's own rear speakers & hence probably the DFS are not being utilised to their potential.
