PC Peripherals What brand HDD to pick up(250/300 GB's)

I was running on Seagate 160 x 3 Sata and Hitachi 250 x 1 SATA II HDD...

Now that i have given away a 160 Gigger Sata to a friend i need to pick up one more HDD... Tell me what to get... Another Hitachi or a 300 Gb Seagate Drive... Also let me know the current market prices...

Also apart for the above two brands which other barnds are good to pick up...

I too am leaning against a Seagate... But wouldn't it be just nice to have a twin square setup :P

btw the 300 gig performs a lot better than a 250 gig been there and tested it out :P
 
Hey Switch last time i went to buy a HDD i was quoted 4150 for Seagate 250GB SATA and 4350 for Hitachi 250GB SATA. Finally bought the Hitachi.
Prices as on 2nd june at NP.

Btw switch lemme know wen u goto NP. If its somewhere close to the Delhi meet then i might just need you to pick a 160 - 300 gig for me. Depends on how much $$ i can spare :)
 
^^The 8 MB cache version gives better results actually. Go for the 300 gig 8 MB seagate. For 4.8k its a good buy. The best VFM is 250 gig for 4.1k.
 
What about western digital? They are now giving door to door replacement if anything goes wrong.They have some models with a 16MB cache memory.They are quite good.
 
Hmmm.... I picked up two 300 gigs Sata II...

The Model No. is ST3300822AS

The dealer said he dosent know weather it is 8MB Cache one or 16MB Cache one... I needed urgently so picked it up... And picked up the second one for Wolfff :P... Kindly check the code again and do let me know as i am sure you have mistyped the code udit...

Yeah, thats right, you got the 8 mb version if model no is ST3300822AS. How much did you get it for switch? I got the 16MB version for 5.5k here in chandigarh near about a month back.

16MB has better performance ??

But larger cache means it writes in bigger blocks na ??? does that lead to space wastage if would cache is not full ??

^^ Is there some funda like this or i am writing crap ??
