Hi all,

Which card should i go for if i want to play games at 1920*1080 res on my Benq E2200HD?

My budget is around 10k and most of the time i'm playing WoW.

Thanks for all the advice.

I have the same monitor and would like to say that an ATI HD 4870 would be good, but if u plan to have DX 11 then nothing below a GTX 460 / HD 5830 would be good for FULL HD gaming. Whatever card you get make sure its not a 128-bit card (or under), it'll not be awesome for FULL HD gaming

Is it a good idea to consider buying a 5770 now to be able to play DX11 games later (on a crossfire setup) or should 4870 etc be taken into consideration now and when DX11 hits mainstream and 6xxx series cards are available (which, correct me If Im wrong would be better for such games), one should dump/sell the older gen card and buy that ?

i think 6xxx series will only be a minor improvement over the current 5 series. The 5770 has good crossfire scaling and low power consumption.

I'm having Corsair VX450 at the moment. Should i upgrade my PSU if i should be going for 5770?

Actually the VX450 might even allow you to X-fire with 2 5770's
I can confirm that, i am running 5770 and 250 on the same psu, 5770 crossfire will consume more or less same power!!

No, get this one:

MSI Global

I'm also the proud owner of ATI Radeon MSI Hawk 5770HD, and believe me it is awesome, I could play almost all the games at 1920x1080 and full resolution, I have Samsung P2350 Full HD Monitor (23"). Believe me, if you get it, you'll love it.

Hmm..this one right?

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-R5770-DisplayPort-PCI-Express/dp/B0037YSSXW/ref=pd_cp_e_1

It for $180..not in my budget :( (I have a budget for anything below 8k, this one is ~8.4k)

Is it worth the $10 and $30 (with one of them) price difference?

actually the 5770 is a little slower than a 4870 , for those who are confused look at this chart for gaming at 1920 x 1080

MSI Hawk is not. As it is pre-overclocked. By the way, with new drivers performance has improved a lot, and in most games with AA and AF turned to high it surpass 4870HD.

err the chart may not be accurate and upto date.

the difference between 5770 and 4870 is nullified with newer drivers.

HOw much does the Hawk one cost in India?
9350 at primeAbGb

get the cheapest sapphire model if you are getting it from abroad.

sapphire? - international warranty.

cheapest? - Hawk does not differ alot from the stock in performance. any difference in performance can be matched by mild OC. i.e. if you are buying from abroad. $30 difference is not worth it.

while if you are planning to buy it here, then the Hawk would eb your best option. other othe models are in 500 rupee range of hawk and you can afford the same for better quality thouh not very different performance.

OR, if you can gamble, then Biostar 5770 costs 8300 from mediahome. the only glitch being that the Biostar has different Distributor for Graphics cards, its Intratech. And it has only one branch, that too in delhi. Good option for delhi folks but other will have to be dependent on mediahome for warranty services.
