PC Peripherals What did i fry - System not getting past POST screen

my PC's dead
when i switch it on, the systems boots but then nothing happens
the beep sound when u switch on a system never comes
all the fans run but nothing happens
i checked the cpu, looks like its fine. maybe the hard drive is dead?
what to do!!!
 
Remove the RAM and boot. If you get beeps, clean the RAM slot using a paintbrush, clean the RAM as well and put it back.
 
i tried, but it looks fragile,
how do i remove the battery without damaging it?
its really tough to remove it!
 
there will be a metal tab at the side of the battery. push it using a pen or a screwdriver and batt will pop out.

try one RAM stick at a atime on all 4 slots and tell us how it went.
 
PSU also seems fine, the fans are running, and the heatsking fan, and all the lighting also works fine. ill check cmos as soon as i get home.!
 
This happens to me too once in a while. In my case the solution was to disconnect the floppy cable from the mobo :ohyeah: Yes, I know it sounds ridiculous but it used to work and as long as it works, I don't care how or why.
Very rarely, even that didnt work so I had to disconnect all components and then reconnect them again for the system to boot up.

PS - I say again...the above solution worked only for me. It may not work for you but its worth a try.
 
RESET the jumper in ur mother and try again....refer ur motherboard's instruction manual to find its location...Resetting means just switching the jumper's previous position...say initially or currently ur jumper might be in 1,2 position..switch it to 2,3 position and then try booting...

ur problem is very much common these days and i faced a similar situation...try the above solution and c whether it works...
 
same prob with me,,, checked everything ,, coz my gfx got burnt :( , in d end i had to buy a new gfx card and had to give my mobo for rma, still 2 weeks , i didnt got my mobo bak :( ,, mostly its ur mobo prob !!! coz mine also didnt gave any display , but everything was working properly on other pc !!

It can also be the mobo...even I faced the same problem. Tried all the solutions mentioned and finally send it to my dealer only to find out that my mobo has failed..
 
try the beep analogy to find out the culprit among cpu, board, ram and gfx
if beeps r continuous then its gfx,display for rest refer the analogy of ur board..google it.
 
Opened CPU and checked looks brand new, no smell as well - CPU looks fine
checked PSU - all the cords are working fine, connectted all with DVD rom and checked
tried CMOS, JUMPER settings as well
motherboard also looks fine to me. this is what happens
when i start , i can see all the fans, PSU fans ,heatsink fans and DVD rom running
the asus logo also glows
but then everything goes off for 2 secs and everything again starts working
BUT i dont hear the beep sound at all which u get while starting,
doesnt look like ill be able to figure out..
does anyone know any good repair shop in bangalore, preferable near brigade road.. as i stay very close to it
