Ok, so I am looking at doing a couple of laptop reviews, but am a bit pressed for time as well. SO I am trying to figure out what people are looking for in a laptop review/preview.

Heres what I have in mind:

1. Lots and lots of pics.

2. Personal likes/dislikes/opinions

3. Temp/Noise (subjectives/CPU temps etc)

4. Battery life test (1 test with movie running at comfortable brightness, Wi-Fi etc off)

What other ratings/benchmarks etc would you want in the review? (PCMark, any others etc....)

All comments/replies appreciated.

Vista's rating

How long it has been in use

Any need for contacting customer care, if yes how was their response, any unreasonable delays

Any delays in getting free gifts (HP in mind)

Software issues in the factory install

Crapware it came with

From which shop it was bought, replacement period offered by the shop, price

Service center availability

@Darthcoder: Gaming on most normal laptops is a distant dream :P But while we are at it, what games do u have in mind?

@unni: Service, experience etc is a long term thing. You can never say for newer laptops :)

Vista Rating: Ya, missed that.

Points 2,3,4 are must.

Also why dont you run the Battery Eater Pro test.

DivX encoding time for a selected video.

Also mention build quality, how much comfortale is the keyboard and touchpad.

And dont forget to mention the price(mention if inclusive or exclusive of tax).

@hotshot05: ya, planning battery eater too. Need time for it though :)

Divx encoding, let me see. May use mediacoder and a single file for reference. Any suggestions?

@LT: :bleh: This is how I relax :ohyeah:

@Darth: hmmmm.....lemme see bout those then ;)
