Just got Warcraft III Frozen Throne running pretty well using Wine (Ubuntu 8.04) without any hacks at all (apart from installing the VC++ redistributable packages, which might not have been required). The only problem is that it crashes while attempting to play some campaigns. I read that this is probably an issue when the program attempts to play the videos and craps out. The fix is to rename the Movies folder inside the WC folder to something else. It's a non-issue for me as I'm more of a replay watching fanatic 
hyeah: . Also would love to play DoTA but haven't been able to test it out with Hamachi. AOE has not been working for me but according to the AppDB it's supposed to work alright. Will give it another shot tonight.
