What is PS3 Cracking Need a SBS Tutorial

Got a PS3 as gift recently but heard that you need to buy OG Gaming Disks to play so decided to keep it aside.
Few days ago when I met my friend running a shop dealing with the Gaming Consoles & others he said that Pirated Gaming DVDs can be run but you need to Crack PS3 and offered me to do that for Rs.500(didnt share trick, aisa dost kis kaam ka :no:)
To TE pe shayad madat milega isi soach me asking for a Step By step tutorial for Cracking PS3 also first explain me is it similar unlocking a mobile phone and what is cracking gaming consoles is all about?
Help me .... :)
 
Wow and he really offered you a hack for 500? Way to go boss! :lol:

Please ask him and find out if he's willing to accept group orders since all the ps3 users on the forum would love to get their respective consoles cracked so we could use it for running homebrewn applications and loading games off the hard disk. I'm serious when I say this!

The hack what George Hotz claims to have done has not been available to the home user as yet.
 
AFAIK you can't crack a PS3, not yet atleast ;). He might be thinking you're talking about a PS2 which can be modded for about the same price your friend mentioned.
 
Even if geohot finds a working mod to run copied game discs on the PS3, what about the price of blue ray media & blue ray burners.. Plus the kind of bandwidth required to download such massive amounts of data for each game.. It'd be still better to buy original game discs!!!
 
it's still better to buy legitimate games for ps3.. because of their massive size, costly storage media as vinay pointed out.. and main reason is the psn is totally free to play online.. on the other hand, we have to pay for xbox live, so modding it can be an option..

PS3 Cracking? The dude is either cheating you or presumed it to be a PS2.

There are rumors that some of the initial firmwares were cracked and one could load games but the games would not run, so maybe there is still some hope to us PS3 owners!

+1. PS3 cracking is not a kids job. Its better to buy legit ps3 games than pirated ones. Nothing beats original quality. And i hate GeoHotz. He is gonna ruin the only console that still have some respect and honor left. F*** GeoHotz.
