yup.. true that.. though its a different thing all together that metal cannot drive.. :P
:rofl:

Is kranthi's recent acquisition (or gift was it :P) an automatic?

^the mileage gets f**ked up big time.

and there is a chance that you end up seizing your engine..

Mileage? Whats that ? LOL.....

I have not heard of an engine seizing if one is redlinning often unless the enging has some mods added on to it and is being stressed beyond its limits....

SO what you are saying is that you do not have any idea regarding what speed on the speedometer you use the different gears?
Does the sound of the engine varies wrt speed sometimes or usually at a certain fixed speeds the engine makes a certain sound and you upshift?
Exactly.

Engine sounds don't vary that much. One obvious change in engine sound that I know off will occur after the cars first service.

overall feel, the vibrations.. and how we get used to shifting with respect to speed that we feel.

@metal

Feeling sorry for you bro:D :P

normally i dont look at RPM but i always up shift at 1750-2200 RPM range. that's the optimal. and 4K RPM is too much for diesel engine. my Manza easily cross 120 with just 3k RPM. and i am happy with that. for petrol cars RPM story is little different...

Well in i10 it tells you the gear to be engaged for the different speeds..i find it useful but you cant keep looking on IP always,you need to keep an eye on road too..:P

In my opinion, one should change gears between 32%-40%(mostly)-55%(rarely) of the maximum rev range, depending upon your aggresiveness. (Higher rpm shifts during aggresive driving)

For instance, my car has a max rev limit of 6k (redline starts at 5k). And the recommended shift is given 2000-2500rpm. I follow this as the engine note is also perfect to shift in this range.

depends on when your turbo kicks in. for more details on when your turbo kicks in, please refer sig :P
