It's not exactly an buying advice, but I'm rather confused.
I will be going to a very small town in Africa for work, other than MS Office, will be using SPSS and R ( my absolute favourite statistics software) a lot, basically everyday along with a browser ( FF) and an email client ( Outlook, as I need some granular control and very familiar with it)
Now the confusing part, each and every member of our team are on Mac, and for the first time my employer suggested me to carry a Mac ( according to their experience nothing works like Facetime and I will be spending hours on a daily basis. Of course Skype will work too, but don't want to bother my field workers with another software they don't usually use)
I was a complete Apple person about a year ago but now happy with W10 and Android. And the LG laptop is working fine for me.
I can get a MBP again but don't know how Android behaves with Mac.
So shall I leave my beloved cheap android phones too and go back to the evil ecosystem?
No way I'm carrying 2 laptops and 2 phones.
Instead of buying a MBP, can I get away with an iPhone ( facetime) and my old trusty Gram?
How does Outlook for iOS work? Or shall I use the native email client of iOS?
Of course I will loose some functionalities of full Outlook, but will I be able to import my custom inbox folders in email client of iOS ?
I have made those changes with a lot of care, won't be able to do it all over again.

Getting MBP for just Facetime is not the prudent choice, IMO. Assuming you can carry 1 laptop and 2 mobile devices and you just need an iDevice for Facetime, have you considered any old iPhone like 6S/7 or even iPod Touch (again assuming you would be on WiFi only)?

On the another side of thought, do you have any idea/info on what various files/apps colleagues will be using which only works/works better on mac ? Like instead of mailing a file they would just AirDop it ? If that's the case, MBP is more sensible to fit into their working style.

I am using Outlook app on my phone. Do you want me to check anything specific ?

Thanks mate, getting delivery and read receipts would be the most important thing to me.
Scheduling and delaying mails are also needed ( but can probably manage without it)
I have installed it on a XR, but didn't really check all the features yet.
Thankfully the folder structures are not messed up after adding my personal and 2 work related emails.
Yes, they do use air drop a lot. But we will mostly be dealing with small word and Excel sheets.
I'm planning to carry one laptop and at least 2 phones. Since I haven't bought my allocated phone/ laptop yet this year, they will provide me upto 1000 EUR for a phone/ 1200 EUR for a laptop.
Which iPhone has the best battery life? I'm perfectly happy with Windows 10 and don't want to get back into the dongled life, if I loose them ( which I will for sure) getting a replacement will be difficult.
Not taking any chance with usb C/ lightning cables and chargers, will carry a bunch of them.

Carrying the following gadgets for both of us
1. Laptop: 2015 MBP 13inch, Gram 14 ( we could do with one laptop, but taking another as back up)
2. Phones: XR/Note 10 lite/K20 pro ( cancelled the 12 pro for an iPad air which can be used more efficiently as a laptop replacement in extreme case scenario, a very good advice from our predecessors)
3. Camera: Our old trusty 5D MK3, and 70D ( back up) don't have to carry lenses, but I'm keeping a cheap 50mm prime.
4. PXC 550 ii, hd4.5, a small box full of IEMs ( cheap ones) No large headphones.
5. 4 large power banks, at least 10 usb C cables, will buy a couple of PD chargers.
Am I missing something important? Almost all essential electronic items are available at Bujumbura.
