What Supplements do you take

Hey All,

I was having hair fall problem got tested for Vitamin D3, B12 and found out I was deficient of them started using D3 supplement from Nature Made.

Do you guys take any supplements daily like Omega 3, Magnesium etc as I have been seeing numerous doctors posting online suggested taking them due to lifestyle changes.

I had shoulder surgery in 2015 and was always diagnosed with D3 deficiency. My doctor put me on monthly 60k IU D3 tablets and daily Omega 3 (though I dont take it that often because I'm lazy). Currently also on daily Vitamin C to boost immunity thanks to the increasing pollution in Mumbai.

Vit D, Mg and K2
D was diagnosed at 13 ng/mL and wanted to go and be at >90 ng/mL
Initially started at 10k IUs /day - took forever to get to ~50 ng/mL (2-3 months)
so, doubled the dosage for a month and breached >90 ng/mL
Now, I am back to 10k IUs /day to maintain at around 80-90

Effect - The frequency at which I used to catch common cold is massively reduced. and even if I do, the severity and duration is slashed significantly.
Fun fact - I started taking Mg/K2 only after I started maintaining my new 80-90 levels. Should have taken it from the start but I didnt know.

If you're vegetarian or don't take non veg that often you'll need collagen supplements.
Best one I found so far for collage type 1 and 3- https://nutrija.com/marine-collagen-peptides-powder

Unless you're allergic to sea food there's absolutely no side effects for taking these.

For vitamins you can take this on alternate days -

@Kubdya Khavis if you have weak shoulder joints you might have knee problems too in the future. Collagen type 2 helps build joints and cartilage that's in your shoulder and knee joints. You can take smoothwalk tablets for it. But ideally you'll want to build muscles around your cartilage.

Supradyn once a day - has a lot of things including B12 and D. Used to take B12 only Nurokind OD but replaced it with this ( Dr recommended).

And eat lots of healthy stuff - chia seeds / flax / black sesame seeds / almonds / walnuts / Peanut butter + cocoa powder (yummy) / Fruits - Banana/Chiku/oranges/apple/Seasonal - Berries/Grapes/Mangoes etc etc
This i do daily along with eating other foods.
I eat a lot of fruit these days. Keeps my stomach happier too.

Pharma D3 60k once a fortnight.

Those who already are aware, ignore this comment about cycling, etc.
Vitamins and supplements needs cycling, otherwise can cause unexpected results and harm like kidney stones. Another eg., take magnesium and calcium supplements separately to allow maximum absorption (too much calcium can prevent magnesium absorption). Similarly Vit. C and Vit. B12 together.

Info about me - Turned vegetarian 4 years ago or so. Overweight, but nothing major. I go to the gym 3 days a week for strength training.

I take the following supplements:

1. A multivitamin on alternate days
2. Vitamin D 2000IU daily
3. Vitamin C daily
4. Vegetarian Omega 3 capsules daily
5. Magenisum Glycinate (220mg of elemental magnesium) daily
6. I think you were just referring to vitamins, but - Creatine monohydrate 4 grams daily

I'm thinking of taking something for the persistent gut issues I have, but not sure yet. I have curd every day, along with buttermilk fairly often.

@Simar
Hope you are aware both Magenisum Glycinate and Creatine monohydrate have propensity to cause upset stomach.
I've had these issues for quite a few years now. I think they started after I contracted covid in the first wave, but I'm not sure about the timeline. I started both of these supplements again a few weeks ago (after a very long break), so there's no correlation as such, but I will stop taking them if things worsen.

My gut health improves significantly whenever I'm prescribed a pre/probiotic supplement like Vizylac Rich to take alongside antibiotics. Which is why I believe that I would benefit from taking one regularly, although I haven't narrowed down on one. I'd prefer to take care of it naturally, but things like homemade curd/buttermilk haven't helped much. I've also added Metamucil/Isabgol to my diet recently for added fiber.

Metamucil / Isabgol, one should drink enough water, can interact with absorption of nutrients to body. It works differently on each condition is what I heard.
Did you try Kefir ?
Good to hear that Vizylac Rich helped.

I have severe deficiency of B12 and mild deficiency of Vitamin D. Doctor suggested to take 1 table per week for 1 month for Vitamin D and suggested injections for B12 since my body is not able to absorb it through diet. Though Im not willing to take injections as I think body will totally depend on it, instead I'm taking Matilda Forte tablets for it regularly. Also note, too much of vitamin D tablets are also harmful for the body, so please don't overdo it.

GNC Cod liver oil capsule (1 at night)
Revital Men multivitamin (1 at night)
kottakkal Arya Vaidya sala ajaswagandhadi leham (1 spoon at morning)
1 scoop Avvatar whey protein malai kulfi + Raisins, Almond, Badam (evening drink)
Eat one banana daily at night and other fruits.

Go far 3 kilometers walk in the morning and in the evening. Cardio exercise in the weekends.

I am predominantly vegetarian, and don't spend too much time in the sun, so these are what I take daily:

Vitamin D3 - 2400IU
Vitamin K2-7 - 55mcg
Omega 3 - 2500mg (serving) - 1500mg (900mg EPA + 600mg DHA)
Vitamin E - 10mg (to balance Omega 3 oxidation)
Vitamin C - 500mg
Vitamin B (all, but mostly for B12) - No idea about dosage, but it's more than sufficient as I take a multivitamin capsule (becosules) that has 10x RDA every 3-4 days.

1 carrot and 2 bananas for Vitamin A, Potassium and other minerals.

5 Walnuts, 5 Almonds and various other nuts for other random minerals.

30gm protein powder (whey) because vegetarian. Daily total around 50gm (balance covered from milk/curd/cheese).

Will add Tata 1mg's vitamin D supplement to my stack as it has calcium and magnesium which I've been meaning to add as well (although milk, bananas, nuts, legumes and grains do cover most of it for me for now).

Btw, not sure if people here know about this or not, but if you want to see lab tests of supplements (and various other products), look up trustified.in

They also have a youtube channel where they review and test products from the Indian market, and then put up final reports on their website.
Quite a few popular supplements have failed their tests!
Make sure you aren't using them.

Take the injections. Tablets are for slight deficiency or when you just need to maintain the levels. If left untreated, B12 deficiency causes irreversible damage to the nervous system. Don't make this stupid mistake.
