What to do at airport when stuck for 14 hours in day time

I have a question for people who have experience of traveling to foreign countries, is it better to get a direct non-stop flight or there should be atleast 1-2 stops before the destination?

What would be better? New Delhi --> Toronto (via Air India) or New Delhi --> Zurich (via Swiss Air) --> Toronto (via Air Canada) ?

Personally, I prefer the non-stop flights. I usually find that they cost me a bit more, so I get those when my company is paying for the ticket. When I buy tickets for myself, I just pick the least expensive option. (If you are picking a stopover and it is your first time at the stopover airport, pick an option that gives you 3+ hours for switching flights.)
 
^^direct flights i would say..changing flights and waiting durations can be a big headache..though swiss air service better than Air india from what i have heard..

do they have baggage storage service at JFK..some say it has been discontinued
 
The Air India flight is 1k less than the Swiss Air one, also there is a difference of 9 hours between the flights. :P

I should rather go via Air India then.
 
^^ Depends on where you are going and duration.

I'd prefer the direct flight especially if the airline has a good entertainment system (which most airlines have).
 
The long-haul is better in the long run..!

Less chances of baggage loss, and you sit and get off. Period. But one has to keep walking around. Remember my ordeal New Delhi --> Newark. Painful. But better than changes flights, or missing due to terminal late arrivals. Choose an aisle seat, center column. If in the middle, you are jacked.

See there are three columns in Economy class:

WINDOW Seat 1--Seat 2--Seat 3|CENTRAL AISLE Seat 1 --Seat 2-- Seat 3 CENTRAL AISLE|Seat 1--Seat 2--Seat 3 WINDOW

Try to get what is in bold, reasoning being:

1. You can stretch your legs.

2. You can get up for the restroom/a walk when ever you want. No need to oblige others.

3. Low probability that someone will ask you to get up when THEY need to get up. Because Seat 2 in the middle can ask his left or right.

meanwhile I had a nice time talking to the chick beside me who wanted the window seat, I was happy offer and she was happy to talk more.

Ahem, now we can talk about stretching legs.
