Market Feedback What to do if you get scammed (by God knows who) but seller says "shipping at buyer's risk" on the sale thread?

Basis the information shared from us & Delhivery's internal investigation with the pick up boy who picked up the parcel on 14th March, DELHIVERY HAS RECOVERED THE PHONE FROM THE PICK UP personnel!
Kinda dents the perception that shipping to the NE is a risky affair if the phone was pinched at Stage 1 of the route. After all the package did reach the recipient :)

The only thing which seemed off to me was the double tape and seller said he did only one.

Regarding the accusations, I'm not sure if it would do any good. All I thought of at the time was it was very cleverly done by whoever did it. You wouldn't notice it if you didn't see the image the seller sent.
This was the tipoff that it happened at the sellers end. They had a substitute phone ready to go for the swap.

That it was done and repacked so well shows this is organised crime at a level you won't find in the NE.

So Now I assume the people receiving soaps or other phones instead of ordered phones from flipkart and amazon face the same thing?
phones swapped as soon as the seller ships?
flipkart has open box delivery but with Amazon you don't get anything.

SPECIAL Kudos to Delhivery Team who involved in all this, they are REALLY HONEST & Genuine so they do hard to find out and also congratulation to both buyer & seller who kept patience and keep providing all possible details to Delhivery Team and constant follow-up.

+1 Organized Crime.

There should be some sort of mechanism in ALL hardware that as soon as device get stolen, owner of device, remotely/online, should able to destroy A-Z parts in that device so no one can use ANY PART of that device either for repair or for replacement.

honestly, i feel otherwise.. the guy could have been swifter and not created a delay in next handover of the package minimising the suspicion on him- if he was an expert!!… but no one will know the truth yea? As someone had highlighted earlier, device could have been disassembled already and sold off for parts. It was more than 2 weeks since it was picked up..

Until now delhivery hasn't officially confirmed on email and device is yet to be handed over to buyer or me, so all celebration on hold until then…

That still wouldn't account for scanned package weight discrepancy at the starting point of courier delivery path & the weight you knew of the actual package, right?

may be they discussing with their higher level and may be with lawyers too .... as only 2 option left
  1. Escalate issue to Police, than your device, may be handover to you after all legal procedure done and culprit sent behind bar.
  2. they may offer you to take device, refund courier charges, destroy all tracking log, remove employee from job and case closed at company level only.

Delhivery has likely had this happen before and it's just good business to follow up and fix problems on their side.

My vote is for #2

@iPwnz congrats for receiving the lost device. Do keep updating.
Not yet. We've received word but the company themselves haven't officially said anything in the mail. Waiting for update tomorrow. Whole week being Holi and Easter week. I'm waiting for their update so I can respond.

Great efforts by everyone. I applaud @vriship for doing his best. Dude was on a holiday when the incident took place so it might have dampened his holiday enthusiasm. I commend them all.

We haven't got any "option" so far. So I'm just waiting for the company's response so I can think about it and plan for any future course of actions. For now I'm hoping for Delhivery to ship the device safely to me this time without any problems.
The choice to give them a week to sort it out first proved wonders. I did panicked and had terrible days but I'm glad I patiently waited it out. Thankfully its all working out in the end.

A member recommended the weighing system. That really brightened my knowledge as it was one of the evidences. The thought didn't occur to me earlier.

Well, I don't know how a delivery company thinks a package weight can change inbetween pick up and dropoff. It should have been flagged immediately internally. I can envision that the "replacement" gang gets wind of this and would make sure to put in an equivalent weight item in place of the original.

How, we as customers, can mitiagate this issue? One would obviously be weighing before shipping. What other ways can you guys think of?

Even Amazon and FK offer open box deliveries. Alas, not us, doing C2C.

Rightly said. This is my worry now for every courier consumer.

They only capture inbound parcel weight upon receiving at their first centre. Pickup is manual by a person and no weight captured at that point.
UPDATE: Official confirmation received on email that they have recovered the phone from the pick up boy! Awaiting confirmation on how the device will be shipped to either me / @iPwnz.

UPDATE as of 4th April:
After back & forth emails with Delhivery & escalating, they seem to have dispatched the phone in a new package (new shipping label generated by me with accurate content - mobile phone & value 20.5k declared).
Its now in transit to @iPwnz

We enquired about the stolen lightning cable (third party) & the case, they replied back on email saying the person has denied taking that. Quite strange.. they cant get worse by admitting for 100% of what was done.. I responded back asking Delhivery to ship the device promptly as that was of highest priority to us.

Will post next when @iPwnz gets it in hand, this time take a clear E2E unboxing video please...

Update as of 2 PM 9th April,
Package has arrived at the same Manipur local office from where it has been picked up last time.

@iPwnz has been informed and will be visiting their office likely tomorrow. Unboxing planned to be carried out within their office itself along with unboxing video to be done.

Update as of 12 PM 10th April:
Package is out for delivery since 10:52 AM (wasnt picked up from their local office)
have asked @iPwnz to co-ordinate pickup from their local office or home delivery with Delhivery. It would have been ideal to pick up in the morning from their office but seems like @iPwnz wasnt able to..
Waiting to hear back!

UPDATE as of 6.45 PM 10th April: Package shows delivered to @iPwnz; awaiting confirmation from him if he received the phone safe & sound..

Update as of 11:40 PM 10th April. @iPwnz has received the parcel and got the iPhone 11 inside it. This calls for a celebration!!!
Lady luck has been in our favour this time...

Just wanted to update that I received the phone just a while ago. I just came back from the Delhivery partner's home. He arrived really late due to huge workload. Also opening the package I got just the bare phone and nothing else. No word from Delhivery regarding the missing/broken accessories. I would appreciate any help in pursuing this case and compensation if possible. I'm definitely filing a complaint with the police soon just for the record else the courier company will surely think they can be let off the hook easily.

PS: I'm setting up the phone as I type this.
