What to do when someone blocks your entry gate

In some of the parking lots here, they have a sign that is on a steel post and it locks into a steel bracketed base that has been permanently attached to the concrete. When you are either inside the gate or away, you simply put the sign up which blocks anyone from parking there. The base is small enough that you can easily drive over it when the sign is not up.

How about trying some Ghandigiri? :P Wash his car in front of him with a big smile on your face. Keep washing it till the day comes when he stops parking in front of your gate due to embarrassment :P

This would likely leave the car in a better condition than it was found. If you did a good wash job would it not encourage the person to park there more ?

Worse, he would tell his friends, guys free wash if you park there.

Unless i missed something ?

" Unless you want to sell your car for peanuts or want deflated tyres, AVOID parking car in front of the gate "

" To keep your car/bike in one piece, DONT park your vehicle in front of gate"

" Pay and Park here..... charges - shattered glass/ lights "

Hehe, having a sign like that is fine, the problem comes when you act on it :)

Thing is this is a public road so can't erect anything like that. We did experiment with granite blocks, so far if they are small enough the driver just pushes them to the side. Motivation to do it depends on how hard in the day it is to find parking. So i guess we need heavier blocks in the 50kg+ range.

Have you encroached the public road so that your door entry is till there :P

Best is install a IP cam on your outer door and in case if you are lucky and someone is parking and you see, give him right then and there :hap2:

Do what one of my close friend has just done. He has bought himself a second hand scorpio for peanuts with a pretty heavy front and back guard. And he has a parking sign in front of his house saying "Park at your own risk"

Heh, i liked one of the suggestions that was linked to by someone earlier.

Get a cpl of cars to box the person in. Course if this does not aggravate the problem it would be fun to watch at least.

^Sounds funny. Have couple of your friends' cars ready. And box the car. Once he starts honking, attend to it.

A sharp metal object, like say, a key leaves scratches in paintwork. Pretty expensive ones, and quick and easy to make, and to a non car owner, looks trivial.

Possible risks - retailiation.

Kids, dont try this at home :P

That exact tactic was used by a neighbour, NO PARKING spelled out on the doors as well as tires deflated. When the young girl got back she exclaimed that she could not be punished in this manner and that there was no sign saying you could not park and block nearly half a driveway :O

So she called the cops, they came took her statement, course there was no way to prove anything concrete against anyone.

She was stuck there till 9pm, till someone gave her a foot pump to do her tires and then her friends showed up and were in the mood for tit-for-tat but again with not knowing who it did not work. So she took down names and it remains to be seen what the follow up will be.

Tho i bet she was dreading going back to daddy with his scratched up Honda city.

I felt at the time that this might have been a bit over the top as its always a new person the next time.

lol...i park my car just close enough to other cars when they park in front of my home gate. Its close enough such that their car would be stuck for good until my car is removed (or the tree on the other end is chopped down)..

Lol abhi Fe ka neta band gaya toh gandhigiri yaad aa rahi hain...tu neta banega agga ja ka..lolz

take a can of spray paint. be as artistic as you can. :P

paint messages like 'im a jackass' on the car. :P

if you have a lot of money, i suggest you buy a tractor or even better a bulldozer and make sure its visible to anyone who tries to park.

feed the dogs a lot of food and tie them over the car.

I faced this problem once...came after a long drive from work and found a car bang in middle of the gate blocking the way...waited 10-15 mins...no one came by...with house construction going on near by....was able to spot a very small wooden piece with a nice rusty iron nail protruding...picked it up and placed it in front of the passenger tyre...nice and firm...with only one way to go - forward...he had a surprise waiting for him..

Just pick up those Red divider thingies from the road and place one where you want ... Most of them dont bother to remove it and then park ...

Do a Banksy ?

why not :D

Right, so it happened again. This time i just took a sheet of newspaper and glued it to the windscreen. No damage done, gets the message across :D

Then they try to leave me a thank you note at which point i come out and give them a piece of my mind !!

Not my property he tells me :O

When there is sign that says no parking i told them they were lucky i was in a good mood today.
