From Grenoble to be precise. I was thinking of perfumes. Are they much cheaper there? If yes, which men brands should I look for?

I would say 90% of all original fragrances come from Grasse. All leading perfume brands have their fragrances manufactured from one or another chemist or factory in grasse.
If u want pure essential oils and fragrances, France is the place to be.
I'd recommend buying pure non alcoholic compound fragrances from there...

Chartreuse (green one)

Any specific speciality of it?

Head to a local bar and have a taste :)

If you like crepes, put some nutella on them, then flambe it with a spoon of this stuff. Gurantee a good reaction.

There is one other thing i wish i had done when i lived there. Learnt how to make baguettes & croissants. The ones you get at upscale bakeries here are nowhere close to the real thing.

Thats really down to you mate. If you could throw some light on the kind of fragrances you like, then maybe folks ard here could hit you with some recommendations. What kind of notes do you prefer?

Not sure about cheaper - designer perfumes are pretty 'cheap' everywhere, though there are a lot of hits among those.

Not to everyone's wallet, and taste, niche perfumes should be your target when you go to france. Explore these new and amazing smells, and see if you like anything, you could perhaps visit (in Paris)

EDITIONS DE PARFUMS FREDERIC MALLE - OFFICIAL WEBSITE - ON-LINE SHOP

L'Artisan Parfumeur: Official site

Visit this blog page for addresses Paris by the nose

I would strongly suggest visiting MPG as well - they have amazing perfumes.

Again, these niche perfumes are not cheap, or to everyone's tastes. I'd suggest you try out designer perfume samples in stores here before jumping into purchases abroad.

I like Davidoff Coolwater kinda perfumes. Subtle and smooth.

There is no need to look for such perfumes there. Those r called industrial notes and nothing exclusive in em. Exclusive notes are those with a heavier dose of patcholi, vertivert, ambroxin or similar chemicals/oils. Items made from these bases are the ones you should look out for in france.
For ur taste, i would suggest items made out of probably geranium or orange oil bases (these are basic categories, the sales person or chemist there will understand better)
