anyone knows how will this fair against Philips SHP 8900 in SQ ? Comfort is not a factor. I searched for lots of reviews before buying my SHP 8900. and some audio forums even said, it almost sounds like HD 555 or even better. Im happy with it, but it needs lots of power to be driven, but using an amp whole time isnt a good idea.

btw here goes the contact nos and details of JVC outlets in India. Maybe some member close to any can start a GO on it.

I've heard the 8900 .They indeed need lot of power to be driven properly but once you have them set , they sound totally blissful !

Very ,very clean and neutral sound .The detailing is too good for the price ;). On the other hand the RX900 has more upfront sound with a good midrange and punchy bass , loads of bass compared to the Philips .Also the RX900 are more easy to drive comparatively. Won't need an amp as such .

Arranging a GO locally won't be possible mostly as this model is not available in India :(.

thnx bro for the inputs.

I have also heard that closed cans are more harmful to ears than open one. Thanks the 8900 is an open one. And ive already paid for a second RX900 :)

Hope it wont make my ear's short of life. Want to use it with my pmp, and 89800 with my PC.

^ All that crap is BS, in my opinion.See as a matter of fact your ears can be damaged by exposure to any sort of loud noise for long durations .Care needs to be taken that's all .See to it that you don't listen to music at a very high volume :). For a more scientific approach , you can read up articles and check charts related to the safe limits of sound /volume for human ears..

Any probs with the pressure inside ear chambers while using closed type ?

Ive to make my choice of music/movies and duration on either of those HPs based on these safety factors :)

^ Philips are very detailed, balanced and somewhat natural sounding. As I said in the above posts the JVC have a more forward coloured midrange and heavy bass which is more fun to listen to.This is JCV RX-700 in comparison .. The 900s should fair better most probably :)

Comfort wise the Philips are lot better than most closed cans. The JVCs make your ears hot after 40-50 mins and you sweat as well .
