Ok so my water cooling kit has been ordered and will arrive shortly. I wanted to know is Distilled Water readily available in India? and where to buy it from... prices etc. Thanks in advance :)

or at a wine shop  .. no kidding but a wine shop near my place has it :P
but i would recommend you ordering distilled water specially made for WC kits.. better to be safe than sorry.. you can also get various colours matching the tube or whatever :)

^lol that would be great
cooling for both rigs :P

and DW at chemists is safe for this.its sealed and specs are written on the package.

petrol pump..

the ones u get at mods shops have additives that prevent formation of algae n stuff.. u cud try car cooling liquid too..

Distilled water from petrol pumps work pretty damn well. My watercooling setup is up and running for a year and a half now with no trace of algae or any organic growth. Just put a few ml of dettol and mix with some antifreeze (read car coolant). The latter is so that the inside of the radiator doesn't get corroded.

distilled water at petrol pumps have dissolved organics so better you stay clear of them...stick to med shops...or reagent class for l33tness

Or, get a distillation kit for 1.5k :P

PETROL PUMPS have it 1litre for 13bucks
donno if they have any addictives .

while buying do nt buy asking battery water (i.e water used in battery) it as addictives .

safest will be that available at medical stores .

its chep no need to care about that.

-1 from petrol pump or automotive workshops unless you are sure of the quality.
Depends where they source it from and most of the times it's a far cry from being distilled. :(

I used to top up my motorcycle batteries with those sealed, twist to break seal, plaqtic vials available for diluting IV infusion/injection medication.
Purest form available commercially but expensive and only small vials of few ml.
But few of those enough for topping up small bateries if done regularly.

You may need to find a proper source to purchase 500ml or larger bottles.
Contact some medical supplies stockist/retailer near a big and renowned hospital. :P

^^A few drops of dettol does the job bikey. For watercooling, all you care for is the lack of organic growth.

Why not make DH20 at home..do this
> Fill empty container with Tap water & cover with plate..
> Boil it, water droplets will be formed inner side of cover plate.
> Pour it into clean glass. Do it repeatdly.. That would be ur dH20..:P

+1 to petrol pump+dettol. for my first attempt I got my DH2O from our college, second attempt from petrol pump. never found any diff between the two.

What about dissolved minerals+salts if it's not pure (and just tapwater being repacked as distilled water)..
That leads to corrosion/scaling in the rad and other metal parts in the pump, etc na?:S
