Where to buy Hardware stuff in US?

My friend is going to the states next month to Denver, Colorado and so I have asked him to buy me a GPU from there. I was wondering were could he buy it from? (i.e which store or place?) He will also be visiting Dallas, Texas

Will the cost of products be same as on newegg? (I want a HD5770, how much would it cost me?)

Help will be much appreciated :)

Its not worth it.

Cost in brick and mortar store will be much higher than newegg prices thanks to local taxes that will be added to the cost and commissions of brick and mortar stores are also higher.

SO to bring card like 5770 from USA is not worth it.

If you are to buy something like GTX470 / 5850 / 5870 then it might make little sense.

Really? Then Im better off buying a second-hand one, thanks for the advice..

+1 to iPad.

Buying in a store is kinda useless. If you can order online, nothing like it.
 
Standard shipping is 3 to 5 days. Next day air options are there, but that takes away cost advantage. By the way, newer will not accept Indian credit cards. So unless your friend has US Bank credit card, he won't be able to order. Try AMAZON. they take everything and deliver everywhere.

+1 for Amazon. They have several delivery options such as same day delivery (expensive!), next day delivery, within 5 days and within 10 days. Amazon accepts Indian credit cards as well. I had ordered my pair of AD700 through a friend's ICICI CC. :)

Does not work if you are funding papal using Indian credit card. I have tried everything. Even tried HDFC vcc. Newegg will simply cancel your order.

You cannot add funds to paypal using your Indian bank account. You can only receive funds ( even this facility is temporarily not available, only cheque withdrawals available now ). So you can only add funds using credit card, and that does not work on newegg.

They will ship anywhere. You can even order using your own credit card sitting in India and get it delivered to your friend's hotel. Your friend just needs to inform hotel reception that he will be expecting a package and take the delivery if he is outside hotel or otherwise inform him in the room. Amazon is amazingly flexible regarding this matter.

They will ship anywhere. You can even order using your own credit card sitting in India and get it delivered to your friend's hotel. Your friend just needs to inform hotel reception that he will be expecting a package and take the delivery if he is outside hotel or otherwise inform him in the room. Amazon is amazingly flexible regarding this matter.

Yeah they do as iPad mentioned - in fact I had my AD700 delivered to a hotel. Did not make any specific mention but do get the address and the pin-code right. :P

at the checkout after you enter your credit card details( after giving address ), it will show you the proper split. There will be state tax in certain states. If thats the case check the other sellers on amazon.

You can see this by clicking the link shown below.

Then try selecting one of the other stores. They might have shipping charges, but if you save tax, even paying shipping might turn out to be cheaper.

And no need to worry, payment is processed by amazon only regardless the seller and all orders can be monitored right from amazon.

Some sellers might not have tax for the state where you want it shipped ;)

I do not think Colorado or Texas have any taxes applicable IINM. As per newegg only California, New Jersey, and Tennessee have sales tax.

Yup, not all have taxes. Just make sure before clicking submit order :P

And New York has tax, Amazon collects NY tax, some other sellers like tigerdirect on amazon does not. This is what I meant, Some stores based in particular state will charge tax for that state. So just check before placing order.

Yeah, will make sure to check for tax.

P.S Can warranty of a product purchased in US be availed in Canada?

^^ not sure about that, but cross border shipping is easy, so shouldnt be an issue even if you need to send card from canada to US in the future.

And do consider GTX 460 1GB models. It might be bigger investment, but as you are buying it from the states, it might be worth going for that one over 5770.

Here in India pricing is screwed as usual, but its really tempting over there.
