Please define exactly what you're looking to buy as Electronics & "general stuff" is a pretty vague term. Delhi is a pretty big city and there are designated markets for various products where one can get some of best deals in India, in some cases, even Asia.

For electronics like in Computer parts u can go to Nehru place & for other electronics you can try Gaffar Market, Karol Bagh.

Nope not always... I've bought loads of stuff from there WITH warranty at GREAT PRICES without any trouble at all... fully functional even 3-4 yrs down the line.. so unless u r daft enough to buy obvious fake goods, it is not an issue to buy from Gaffar or Pallika...

But they fool rather well. And warranty is often an issue with them.

Not worth saving 10% of the money and taking those risks.

A 15k thing would still cost 13.5k over there, not worth it imo

I bought an iPod which used to cost 22000 back then for about 16k... it really depends on the person. If you take a good look at the product then it should not be a problem.

Get from Nehru Place, and insist on receipt. Avoid Palika/Gaffar cause they mostly sell fakes and knock-offs. And since you are not a Delhi resident would not be able to go back for a dispute settlement.

Even Nehru Place has its share of scamsters. Unless you're pretty clear on what you want, they would definitely take you for a ride. In fact thts the way it is with almost every retail operation. You can definitely save much more than 10% when buying from grey otherwise they would not be in business still. Nehru Place is the biggest "grey" market for computer products.

Anyway, if one is not comfortable buying from the grey market then, IMO, it really doesn't matter where you buy from because the prices would be equivalent, at least for branded products.

Second that. Avoid Gaffar and Palika. Maybe all are not fakes. But the moment they see a clueless buyer, you're asking for being duped. Nehru Place would be the best bet. Even there though, take a whole day and research/query from various shops.
