I went to QRS in kerala Trivandrum , they said they do not have stock and obviously they don't really know what they are selling. When I asked for a demo they said there are no glasses for the TVs and explained that TV and theaters are different. It was cute to hear them say "In theaters you get 3D, but not yet in TVs" even though the Samsung 7 series 46" TV they had on display was a 3D LED TV. I should have asked for the employee's name.

Anyway! I am trying hard to decide to go with "LG's Passive 3D TV" or "Samsung's Active 3D TV" I looked into them a lot, millions of youtube reviews, articles, comparisons. Passive 3D would suit my lifestyle as they have the feature of showing one image to one eye and another image to another without shuttering. This can convert 2-player split screen PS3 games for instance to show on full screen for one player and another for the 2nd player with a special right and left dual play glasses. Instead of giving full 1080p it gives 540p to each right or left eye glass. 3D is not possible in dual-play mode, but it will be so much fun.

Imagine two people seeing different stuff one big TV. That interests me but passive 3D TV sets have horizontal line problem when sitting close and i'm worried about that. The image produced by the screen is 540p in horizontal lines, and another offset of 540 lines. So one line of image for each pixel resolution. It sort of creates the scanned lines on screen if too close to it.

Active 3D produces full 1080p images to each eye at 120th of a second. Its like closing and opening one eye so fast that the blackness of the shutter on one eye is not registered by the brain. The images are sent in: one offset image for one eye, then another for the other eye. It shuts and turns on so fast... right.. left, then right and left. It provides greater quality image at 1080p for each eyes BUT the dual-play type experience as with LG's passive 3D will be unavailable to me with Samsung's active shutter. For Wii and Playstation "Move" games I would have to stand up pretty close of the screen there by making the scan lines and issue. Some people say it depends on the person and their brain if the scan lines show up or not. So i am confused.

SO!! Is there any place in this country (preferably in Kerala-Trivandrum City) where they would let me demo both active and passive 3D so I can decide to go with one of them? 55" TVs are expensive!! I don't want to waste money that i really don't have to begin with.
