OC & Modding Which Air Cooling ?

This is for a friend who recently bought a E6750 based comp. Now he is looking to overclock it. But that would require better cooling solution. He doesnt want to get into the hassle of liquid cooling, so guys plz suggest the best air cooler out there.

I did a bit of googling and found out these few-:

Tuniq Tower 120

Thermaltake V1

Thermalright 120 extreme + 120mm fan

I have three questions-:

1)which of these(or any other) has best performance / VFM ?

2)what is the pricing ?

3) availability in Mumbai ?

also, will a northbridge cooler be required for overclocking as FSB speed is increased ? I dont have much idea so dont laugh :p

Any help is appreciated :)
 
Thermalright Ultra120 Extreme (aka TRUE) with a 65cfm+(say a scythe Sflex, Panaflo M1BX 120, ...) fan is the king of air-cooling now. :D
TRUE was available at Prime ABGB, Lamington Road for 2756/- all incl with bill.
You will have to buy a 120mm fan of your choice. :p

The TuniQ Tower 120, the former King of air-cooling, is next best along with the Thermalright Utima90, Thermalright Ultra120. :)
I have a TuniQ tower120 now and i opted for it over the TRUE as it is only a notch below the TRUE in terms of performance under extreme OC but i find it a better looker inside a windowed case. :D
Plus mounting is tool-less and a great help to me as i keep changing chips often. :p
Availability here is doubtful unless someone is looking forward to sell theirs. :p

Thermaltake V1 is reported to be good but i am not sure how it compares to the Ultra120Extreme. :S
Also availability in Mumbai maybe an issue- quite unlikely as of now. :p
 
+1 for TT120 (Tuniq Tower)

But in terms of availability in Mumbai, TRUE might be a better option. Only -ve would be little more hassle with installing but you get better performance if you OC compared to TT.

Do you guys have any idea how much TuniqTower and the V1 cost ?

Will any of the three be enough(the chassis has only 1 exhaust fan) to get over 4 Ghz ? :p

PS: And plz tell whether a chipset cooler is required or not ?
 
If you are planning for 4ghz, none of these air coolers will do. You have to either couple these coolers with peltiers or go for water coolers.
 
try the Thermalright 90i Ultima

I would say that is the best thing for an average user, unless his goal is to set records. The ultima will do nicely unless he is planning on 4Ghz + and even that may be doable I think with the Ultima.

IMO 90+% of the times other factors like choice of mobo / memory / PSU etc will more of a restrictive factor then heat dissipation.

This one was sold already assembled by a dealer near his(my friends) house-:

Proc = E6750

Mobo= Intel mobo with(P35 chipset)

RAM= 2 Transcend 800 Mhz (2x1 GB)

PSU = No idea

VGA = nV 8600GT

Hope I havent missed anything

I've done mine with MX2... Runs pretty stable...

In fact mine did 4284Mhz... :bleh:

Cannot say if 'Intel Original' or what till the OP clarifies the make and model. :p
Maybe he referred to the Abit, Giagabyte or Asus mobo as 'Intel Mobo' implying 'mobo for Intel proccy'. :p

BTW, meesa no Dada- the Dadas are not yet here. :D

First thing, it ain't my comp (you can see i have a ruddy PIII :eek:hyeah: )

Second thing, my knowledge into overclocking is almost 0.

That being said, lemme answer your questions-:

The mobo (as reported) is Intel P35 (i know P35 is referring to the chipset but then, the make is unknown as he bought it all assembled).

I was under the impression that all mobos allow overclocking :ashamed:

EDIT :

The dealer says mobo used is MSI NEO . Does that overclock ?
 
^^^Unfortunately Original Intel(or is it Intel Original.. Yeah wateve..) doesn permit o'clokin..

Only the 975XBX2 did some to a low extent with some mods...
 
^ Not all mobos. and regarding Intel P35 - its a chipset. Many motherboard manufacturers use the same chipsets for no. of mobos. Abit, Asus, .... including Intel itself.

And not all P35 based mobos are real good overclockers. It depends on the individual motherboards. I think the people here can help you/your friend if you can give the exact motherboard specs. Something like Abit IP35-PRO Asus P5KC ... should do. If you dont know - get the manual the assembler gave or if he didnt, just open the cabby and check that on the mobo itself.
