Hi guys,

I have RTR 160. i want to buy R15 but have some doubts plz help me out to decide.

1. is it worth to buy again 150cc bike. ya it give 17 PS.
2. is it better than Pulsar 220 (new one) ?
3. there are news (rumors) that yamaha launching new R15. is it true ? when ? shld i wait for that ?
4. how is the performance of R15 in the city (rush hrs) ?
5. it has thin tyres so how is the grip on the road, specially wet road.
6. it’s wheelbase and length are smaller than even RTR. any comment on this.

Thanks
Raaka

well i had the same question abt a month ago...my head used to say P220 and my heart R15...some points to note...altho u mite already be knowing these...

1. P220 is much cheaper than R15...abt 30k cheaper

2. P220 has almost a similar mileage afaik

3. P220 has higher power and top speed

4. P220 is carb whereas R15 is FI

now for ur questions...

1. depends on what u think is worth..consider above points

2. better in what sense..see above points again

3. those rumours are not confirmed yet afaik...

4. pretty decent even in rush hours

5. the tyre and grip is quite good...tho will let others comment on that

6. i dont think tht should be a problem

all the best with ur purchase...

PS: i listened to my heart...

You really want to upgrade? Considering you already have a non-commuter bike

Buy a Ninja 250R:cool1:

Else, R15. But, dont expect wonders in terms of performance. Just expect prying eyes! :)

Want performance and value? Get P220. Its carb engine and all-new ride/build quality does wonders for performance lovers :)

Want a city-traffic ripper? Keep the RTR 160.

Still confused? Wait a while.

as far as looks are concerned then R15 is way over rated.. the tail looks cheap and so does the rear wheel... it's like a half baked sbk fantasy....rather invest in a 2nd hand sbk if affordable.

if your commute is within city then keep the RTR160.it's one of the best 1500cc bikes out there.

also consider a bullet in that price segment... :D

dude go for the R15.. P220 is good for the money but R15 is worth every money you put in

it offers style and performance...

After Apache you will totally love the Fuel Injected R15 then a Carb P220..

If you don't know then I must tell you all pulsar engines start making problems after a year if you don't believe me go to xbhp.com forums and then see some pulsar ownership experiences..

R15 is the best bang for the buck.. else if you are low on budget then P220

remember in city riding any R15 will beat p220 hands down...

and in tracks P220 :)

^^^

Its the other way around...

in city p220..in tracks r15.

or if u are referring to traffic post-to-post race then yea r15 got the initial pull.

@OP

In traffic, P220 ride position is any day better. if you have more open roads then get the r15. I would suggest the fazer as it offers the best in both world. accept it R15's tail end is half baked. awesome engine and all. but I would never make it my DD in and around city.

If you want to get real racing experience and speed.. Then go for R15... I am owner of R15 and I'm proud to be :hap2:

Answers for your questions -

1. Don't look at engine CC, it gives you tremendous power in higher RPM..

2. Hmm, I personally never compared it with New P220.. So can't comment on it..

3. Don't follow rumors, if you're serious then just go, get it!

4. Performance is quite good, you'll have to get yourself into sudden gear changes, don't worry you'll be familiar with that also :)

5. Tyres are thin, but grip is awesome.. In rainy season I leaned my bike on wet roads, side indicators could touch road easily even then the grip was rock solid :cool2:

6. Read above.. you'll see how good the tyres are.. Every bike has some cons.. You wont get any perfect bike in all manners..

I hope you got all the answers.. Any help regarding R15, do PM me :)

220 has mrf zipper....also one of the best

u mean its better than R15?
no way. R15 has pro quality tyres compared to 220. Better road grip, but less life span due to soft rubbers.

CHeck out new ZMA too. leaves everythin in looks.

Go with the yamaha... nothing like it (Although I cannot comment on R15, but my R6 is rulz).

Just one concern is that the R15 body(or any indian bike's body) is of fibre glass so expect any crashes to be too costly:)

Leave all these bike behind and go for new Royal Enfield Classic 500CC. Having 27.2 bhp. Superb looks. Better you visit Royal Enfield site and take a look on that. It's India's first true bike.

I doubt he would do that :p.

Even iam in same boat as you(OP):

I shortlisted:

1. P220 DTSi

2. HH ZMR

3. R15

After going through all the reviews and user experiences..i have decided to buy P220 :)

It seems to be the most sensible and pure value for money bike.

1. buying r-15 is definitely worth it.
2. if you want stability on corners, leaning experience then its r-15. if you want just brute force, its 220. simply put; r-15 wins if there are more corners but cant match 220 in straight lines.
3. there wont be any new r-15 in the near future.
4. keep the rpm above 3k and you will be happy.
5. r-15's tyres are made from specially soft rubber. similar to bridgestone battleaxe. you get more grip than that of p220's tyres.
6. Wheel base is smaller so its more flickable.

ps: I moved from p200 to r-15.

R15 is proven in performance, beating any indian bike except kawa 250 to dirts. It has not been tested with kawa 250 yet. Pulser 220 is nowhere compared to yamaha R 15
