My friend bought a VW Vento for 8L around Diwali. It was one model below the top-most one IIRC. He got integrated stereo and other treats but not the navigation system.

He is very happy with it. Runs smooth and powerful.

Skoda Rapid should also be available for close to 8L. Just be wary of their dealers though. Have read some horror stories about their dealerships...

Hey, why not renault Duster? I think this is much better than any other small car in terms of ground stability.

We have a skoda yeti already at home. So no skoda no more.

Dont like the base Renault engine options. So Duster is out.

I would recommend Linea T-Jet, though it is not in production anymore. Best in class handling, tank like build quality safety features, awesome to drive.

You have to push your budget to around 9.5L.

For 8L, you can get petrol Linea.

I believe that the T-Jets are now available for about 8-8.5L on road given the poor sales and resultant discounts.

It's a fantastic car and a hoot to drive, and maintenance is very very low. Getting a good sample given the long time spent in storage is an issue nonetheless. May need new tyres and fluids.

Forgot to mention some very good features of the t-jet

* All four disc brakes(best brakes in that segment).

* plush leather upholstery.

* best low end torque in its class.

* 16 inch alloys with 205 tyres(again best in segment)

* rain sensing wipers n auto headlights.

* software to track and suggest your driving style.

dZire is ugly!

Firstly, thank god your parents are safe, as for the insurance, how much do you get?

I am surprised no one has suggested the char-buster Maruti Dzire. Take a look at it total VFM option and legendary economical and ever available Maruti ASS, not a Maruti fan, just giving another alternative.

I agree. The new one seems to look like the someone kicked the old one from behind.

the old one was...well...too much junk in trunk for a swift. :)

Mostly the battle is between i20 and sunny. i20 dealers are saying no more Asta O model. :(. only the Asta is available. Today i will be going to hyundai and nissan showrooms. :D

I'd rather say wait a few more days for the Ford EcoSport. It has already reached showrooms or try the Honda City, the sheer power availability @ 2.5k rpm and super smooth engine will surely make your floor! Hyundai petrols are infamous for their lower mileage figures, they were even sued in the US for false mileage figures lol

Same here, my dad bought an i20 Asta over the dZire,as he wanted a new car,and decided to go for a hatchback, but dZire is also good...

And well the i20 is awesome and comfortable..and the mileage is good.

Just checked up Ecosport.

Dont think any point in waiting for that. The Ecosport engine option HAS to be expensive since its being imported. And also i think the pricing will be similar to duster, its sole competitor IMO.
Anyways if the booking open in Jan end.. that is next week, will check it out.

An update.

I dont know wether i can pull this off. ;). But If i increase my budget to 10L. MAXIMUM. Nothing more. What would be my top options?

Can I get my ever long dream, a scorpio? Please tell the other options also. :D

You can get a Renault duster ,Scorpio is a POS vehicle it has a very high amount of body roll and i don't know whats with mahindra i just don't like the smell of their vehicle interior, each time i smell it it makes me puke.

If its a hatch you can get a Jazz i have no idea what you mean by it being boxy buts its built tough, weighs more then a Nissan Sunny and by far the most spacious hatch back and only few sedans under 10lakhs have more space on the inside like Honda city,Sunny and Manza,it also has a 5 star NCAP rating

hmmm.. Reanult Duster eh? but but but.. Scorpio is sooo butch. :(. I am so hurt by ur hatred. :( :( :(

TVM to BLR round trip. Not full though. Shuttle betwen the new mHAWK SLX and a evoque. Loved both, but i cant afford a evoque now. :(
