A 6600GT atleast which retails for about 9k but you won't be able to use it at high resolutions. Specifying a budget would be better imo.

Depends how high a resolution you will use.
At 1600x1200 0xaa and 1280x960 2x/4xaa, 66gt will run all current games easily (farcry, doom3, hl2).

Although it's getting old now and titles using next-gen tech won't run as smoothly.

6600gt, 128MB or 256MB? i can't get myself to shell out 3k more for the 256MB version.. but is it worth the price? in latest games and the games to come? does it make sense for the extra 3k?

I am not quite sure how the 6600GT will perform in newer games like cod2 with the extra memory but imho the performance increase won't be worth the extra money invested.

^^ People here spend 35k on video cards man, 9k is nothing ;)

Most of the cards there are in the 7~8k range only. So its better you get a 6600GT 128MB.

P.S. If your ordering from that site get the BFG 6600GT OC.

mrkun, we are talking about 9k INR.. i NZD = 31 INR.. that way 450 NZD = 14kINR :)

^^ there is a difference between NZD and INR ;)

Either get a good/cheap 6600GT for around 355 NZD:

Or if you are interested in seriously OC'ing the hell out of the card, get the BFG 6600GT OC which carries a significant premium at 437 NZD:

Assuming this X800 XL comes back in stock later, it would be a good buy as well at around 621 NZD, offering a significant performance improvement over the 6600GTs:

I didn't realize you guys were talking prices with INR currency :ashamed:

Awesome, thanks for those recommendations - how much of an improvement would those cards be on my current 256MB Geforce FX5600?

One helluva improvement ! Atleast 40-50% and maybe more at higher resolutions.

I would recommend the BFG Tech 6600GT OC. Value for money, offering awesome performance.

OT: my BIG 6600GT 128MB(BFG oem) was clocked at 525/1025 @ default vs 500/1000 does it means that mine is a overclocked version??
