I'll be picking up my processor by the end of June. My budget is 11K to 15K. I was originally intending on the e6600, but I came across some forums talking about e6650's and e6750's. What is the main difference? Is the FSB bumped up? Sorry I haven't googled specs, and I know nothing about all the Core 2 Duo's after the original e6300~x6800 series.

I may do a modest overclock now that I have a half decent HS ;) but no more than 15~20%.

On the basis of this info can any of you guys suggest something for me? Also can anyone link me to any sites who've actually tested these newer core 2's.

Pls suggest something, and also which of these are available @ lammy?

What are the latest prices?

Dun think the C2D 6x50 penryn proccy's hav released yet...

The n6750 is @ 1333 Mhz FSB... Not sure abt the 6650 tho...

Wait till july mid... By the 22nd price-cuts may hpn and the penryns may flood the Indian mkts... Not sure...

I dont think 6x50s are penryns. I think Intel has not even coined any series for those. The 6x50 series are FSB 1333 and I think with G0 stepping. But still 65nm ones.

Not sure when the 6x50s will begin shipping, but should be in the market by July 22nd price cut.

@Vandal, these proccy are yet to be released, and AFAIK will be released with the July 22 mild price cuts.

Also like random2 said, these are not Penryn's, just C2D's with 1333Mhz FSB

Performance difference should be minimal and should be only because of the clock bump and some mild improvements to the core, if any.

E6X50 will be last mohincan of C2D's .. They are dirt cheap 7k for E6650 :) Ad1 posted the chart I forget where it is :D Get the E6750 when it lunches ... I think it was 22'nd July when they are releasing :ohyeah:

Pls try to find goldy's :P link. I am also searching...

Any reviews or preview tests of these CPU's?

Got it my bad was a bit lazy :bleh: didn't searched here is the chart and thread ...

well there are too many options. Im torn between E6750, Q6600 and G0 stepping Q6600. Maybe it will all burn down to how desperate I am around early august.

If I am ok with few more weeks, i'll wait for G0 Q6600 or else depending on the weight of my wallet will settle for E6750 or Q6600.

I'd suggest u wait for a month more or so to get more options i.e 6x50 series.

The upcoming intel processors sre 1333FSB with gud overclocking capabilities.

If u wanna ignore that, then Intel E6600 is a go . its for arnd 11k at lammy .

The main thing is, the FSB is bumped upto 1333 ie the E6750 will be 333x8.

E6650 will be 333x7.

Also, they are new G0 Steppings, which are insane overclockers, as we are seeing on XS.

Thanks for all that info, ad1, anish, darkstar...

I'm guessing my p5b deluxe will work these CPU's fine?

Anish the Q6600 has trouble beating even the e6600 in gaming benchies, I dunno which are the games exactly but farcry was one. I'm sorry the website doesn't come to mind ditto the link...

It seems the quad core penryn has a good shot @ doing that. Plus as chaos told me these quad cores i.e. 65nm run hot. As karan pointed out my experience with the qx6700 that I tested was limited (I believe n00b a$$ was the exact term) no offense taken :P

There's a 10% chance of me going q6600, much bigger chance of going e6600 or e6750 as of now. Cash is ready though (raided my jabalpur bank a/c's  while on leave), and I'm watching this space...

What ad1 said about the new steppings being great OCers means they'll run cooler at stock or mild OC'ing. I should go e6750 in all probability, and it doesn't make sense to buy now, cause my card and the memory is only coming from the US in August...

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

This is the specification of your P5B delux acc. to it support 1066 MHZ FSB so .. you cannot put the E6X50 series processor in it as they 1333 MHZ FSB and won't work in P5 B delux. While if a BIOS update is there to make 1333 MHZ FSB capable then its a different point.. Make sure your motherboard has some update to 1333 MHZ else you need to buy a new MObo .. If you plan to buy E6750 ;)

I've seen the PSB dlx doing 1333 FSB easily. Doesn't this mean that I can OC the board to match the CPU FSB?

I think p5b dlx does not have native 1333 support (not sure though) but doesnt mean the newer procys cant work on it.

Actually no one (board manufacturers) is talking about the penryn's either. My guess is even those will be supported by older boards, but most probably only the high end mobos will get the needed bios update for its support.

Vandal, there will be a BIOS Update for P5B Deluxe users, which will support 1333 FSB CPU's. Dont worry.

The Q6600 is overclockable to atleast 3 Ghz easy, Vandy. Dont worry about it.

I cant see how a E6600 defeats a Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz. Both are the same Stock Clock Speed, and infact the Q6600 has 2 more cores, So, load of programs running alongside the game will be shifted to other cores.

The Q6600 is the best buy according to me. Specially since its going to be G0 stepping too.
