Can anyone which of the following dvds are better in order of their performance and plz do give stastics regarding the same..
1.National(Rs. 9.5/dvd) ----i m currently using these cos they are damn cheap but till now havent given any problem as such
2.MOser baer (Rs.15/dvd)
3.Sony(Rs.16/dvd)
4.Verbatim(Rs.14)

If Cost Is No Bar..Then SONY DVDs Are The Best.

They Almost Never Let You Down.Still Using One I Bought Over 6 Years Ago.

If you want to use cheap DVDs just for the heck of storing data and won't be using them frequently , then I'd suggest going for an Indian brand like "WRITEX".

They come really cheap (About 6 Rupees if you're buying 50-100 at a time). I generally use them to store movies and Tv shows that I know I won't be watching again in a really long time.

For important/non-replaceable data you can use Mitusi-A gold DVD-R or if you want something something cheaper, you can always go for good old Moser baer :D

The result below for a Moser Baer doesn't look too bad:

Cheers !! :hap2:

which brand is best for long term archiving? meaning the data should be readable even after 4-5 yrs... if that is even possible to judge? :)

i've still got some old CDRs (not DVDRs) of Sony which I'd written about 10 years ago, still readable today :D

I suppose those Verbatims(MCC004) are pretty much reliable and suitable for long term archiving.

Moser baer and Sony 16D don't even come close to Verbs.

metalheart , i dont think writex dvds are close to 6 rs any were. even their cd's are more expensive do recheck . incase they are that cheap some place do PM me , as these writex new batches are made by moser baer in the verbatim assembly line and have the mcc03 code of the dvd-r range :)

good thing is, Verbs are now avbl in India at great prices, 13 a piece

pretty much no doubts should be there, which media to choose for quality storage

If its some unimportant data, any disc would do

One caution, cheap techcom discs were not detected by Ashampoo
