Storage Solutions Which dvd rw should i buy?

I would suggest LiteON anyday. They are the best in terms of reliability, be it CD-RW, Combo or DVD RW i always suggest my friends LiteON. 2nd Preference will be for SONY [Box Packed]. I along with my 2 other frinds are using for the past 1.5 yrs and no problems so far. ASUS is too expensive, Samsung and LG are doubtful in terms of reliability in Long Run. Don't buy any drives which comes loose. Always prefer which comes Box Packed

@Sahil - no issues yaar.
The Asus is a good drive for the price, and it should be available at Prime and Comp Sel. Whether it's worth it, that's up to you. I didn't have a Pio-based drive with me, so I picked one up.

What's your budget? If it's ~1800, I'd recommend a Benq 1650 or LG H10.Good drives both.

now u really confused me :|
im gettin a sony box packed drive for 2.25k
and a LG box packed for 2k
which 1 should i go for ?? my main consideration is that the drive should run error free for atleast 2yrs :)

i can get any model no. from the dealer ..but would it be wrthe that amount or shall i go with LG (pls specify the model no. also).

btw thnx a lot techead for helpin us out .... repps added.

Aces Bhai-
LG H10N might be less than 1.8k now at LR- i heard newer 18X ones are out.:)

Bought an LG H10N from Prime about a month or 2 back- was quoted 1850/- over the phone- got it picked up without bagaining as i saw no point haggling over 50 bucks.:ashamed:
A friend had been quoted 1900/- for the same in Andheri a day back.:p

:) I am using a sony dvd writer 810A for approx 6 months. Absolutely no problems. Also coupled with sony media(which I use) flawless writing. Disc scans would always show(using nero) 100 as quality. That should be very good.
Please do not buy oem ones. They are often rejected pieces or might miss the software cd's normally accompaning the drive. Whatever drive you buy always buy the box packed ones.

^Bunkum.

1) Try scanning with CDSpeed, at 8X, using the Benq 1640 FWSony FWs do NOT support true error scans.

2) OEMs = rejected pieces? LOL! That means Dell, Gateway etc. use rejected pieces? Don't spread such wrong information...

^^ Hmm even I have had very nice experience with Sony CDRW drives, infact my 40x drive is yet working flawlessly, must be atleast 4 yrs old now. Besides my friend has a benq 1640 and its working flawlessly too, I am a lil sceptical of LG even though everyone has recommended as I have seen numerous CDRW's failing. So I guess I will stick with Benq 1640 or 1650 whichever are available...

But trust me Bhairav aka Techhead knows his stuff ;)

Just bought a 1608P3S for INR 2300 from A&A Computech Andheri. Now on to flashing it to the latest firmware. The pioneer or the latest asus firmware ??

:) I am not trying to spread wrong info....everybody in TE might be saying LG drives are good but I would have seen atleast 10 to 15 drives failing. During my college days everybody avoided LG drives like the plague:bleh: :bleh:

Regarding non-boxed pack ones it is your money so buy if you want too...
just do not regret it 6 months down the line...

So if u regret it after 6 months just rma... it whats the problem here... lol... u get 1 yrs' warranty neway... i have heard too many good things about benq... so i think ill get that only even if it means waiting...
