PC Peripherals Which Dvd Writer?

get the sony dru-810a and flash it to the benq 1640 (use the bslb firmware) you wont go wrong with it!!
But the benq 1640 is supposed to be old drive , benq 1650 being the latest. Also The LG supports much higher formats and the same can be crossflashed to H10N, whic results in higher speeds.

gotta ask yourself this...How much of dvd burning r u gonna do?? and which media r u gonna use??
my guess is mainly MBI 16x disc's....and so far these discs give good results only at 12x

I have both the Benq 1640 n Benq 1650....and given a choice i'd go for the Benq 1640(better firmware support so far)..
Plus Benq has Qsuite...which is really helpful...

The LG drive i dont know much abt...it supports DVD-RAM i guess....but u think u are gonna use that???

And burn quality-wise....no drive comes close to the Benq 1640...

I mainly do dvd video backups plus data. presently have a samsung dvd writer, use mainly 4x speed

Rest its just that you intend to want everything and latest...but u have got a good point....lets see if anyone can better that....u got me put my thinking cap again :)

I am using a sony dru 810a working flawlessly. I have no problems. You can try the sony dru 820a. Difference with 810 is that it can write dvd ram. You probably won't get the media in India but you can brag....:hap2:

^^ which writer did u get?

Got the sony 810 boxed for Rs. 2700.
I already have a samsung combo which amazingly enough restarted buring cds about a month back... now I think I could have held back getting it until I get a new pc.

its just 1 yr now...when i got the 1640 it had 2 yrs warranty...but when i got the 1650 it had only 1 yr warranty..

And i personally think that the 1640 is a lil better than the 1650(just a question of gettin a better firmware for 1650)

Problem is the availability of the 1650. The dealers always keep Sony and you'll find it readily available.
Yup, thats for sure, my dealer is also against Benq (i.e. he does not has it and though he can get it he is saying service ke waqt mere pass mat aana Also I have had problems with Benq before, had to talk to the Sales Head Mumbai for a problem in Delhi  ) But if the performance and features are better than Sony, then I can take that risk.

Also can't seem to find a review of Benq 1650 at CD freaks will search again today and see what is there say.
