I would suggest you to buy your card locally so that if anything happens to your card you can get it repaired/replaced. I have replaced upto 3 hardware parts replaced, some within 6-10 months after using them. During those months they were working fine and then suddenly 1 day it stopped working. Like for example my motherboard (650i Ultra) stopped recognizing USB. I thought it was a software problem but even after reinstalling OS I got the same problem. And, dum/nice Rashi (a hardware seller) replaced it even though the warranty period was over :P

@sTALKER
None of those costs involved if your friend is coming over here :ohyeah:

ahh.. what if my friend aint gonna be my personal courier service for RMA's? there is no assurance that a friend is gonna be around to help ship stuff at ALL TIMES. someone might be there to buy nd bring it over.. but what after that?

@ local purchase advisors - I said I was willing to take the risk :)

I have asked my friend to go to a Circuit City outlet in the US, to check if he can get a HIS Icecube, Sapphire, Visiontek or Palit card (in that preference order). FYI Circuit City has filed for bankrupcy, and is selling hardware at much reduced rates through their outlets (online prices are not that low though :(). So hoping to get a good deal.

Have my fingers crossed. This December and January, lots of people I know are venturing to the US, so I am taking the chance. Hope it pays off. If the Circuit City thing doesn't work out, will wait for Black Firday;)

My friend is coming back close to New Year time, so can take a few shots at the Christmas sale :D.

Cheers !
