hi guyz,,i have heard a lot of thing abt the seagate drives 7200.11 series.it scared me to hell,,since i have one 500gb(ST3500620AS,SD15),,containing all my data,,and also heard that seagate doesnt provide FREE data recovery,,i want to buy a hdd for backup now!!!first of all internal or external,,and offcourse which brand,500gb or more req.the most imp data is already backedup..still lot to be bckdup,more than 320gb(movies,music,pics,etc),,pls suggest budget max 6k,,thanx!
 
Better go for WD green.

this one is the trusted one with less failure rate.

you can manage to get 1TB for 3600-3700 on eBay if u got coupon.

else buy from the dealers here,offering for around 4600/-.
 
First upgrade your firmware, which would resolve the issues with 7200.11 drive, if you haven't done so. WD green would be the most suggested drive here :)
 
^their SD1A firmware also seems to have problems(saw on the some other forums),,and if the update fails then its going to be a major problem,hoping that it doesnt die out
