which hub to buy?

I am going to expand my home network from current crossover config to a hub network as the computers in my home are increasing. I would like to know which hub you guys would recommend with cost

Also since I have a ADSL modem with ethernet port will I be able connect say 3 computers to hub and 1 dsl modem to hub and be able to dial into net using any 1 computer and still be able to access the folders of other computer on network?

to answer ur 1st query, i think a 8-port Switch makes more sense than a hub.. D-link is good.. not too sure of the generic ones..

Well an 8 port switch is cheap. Get one of those. If you wish to spend a little more, get a wireless router for future expandability . I got a netgear 100mbps wired/802.11g wireless router yesterday for 2650.

I checked out the rates of hub, an 8 port hub costs 600 bucks, how much does a switch cost?

800~900 at the most.. u'll get cheaper too i guess..

Yeah the D-link is 900 bucks. Why buy a hub when a switch is so cheap
