Want to use VCC for online purchases(mostly from shops which are outside India). The SBI VCC is worthless. Have heard a lot of good things about HDFC NetSafe. Just want some users of the service to point out any negative points about it.

ICICI, Kotak also has VCC service as far as I know. Are they any good compared to HDFC?

Will open a new account in whichever bank has the most reliable service.

By the way, I have a PAN card and Voter ID card. The Voter ID card has my home address. But do I still need to furnish an Electricity/Telephone bill as address proof?
I am a college student. Which type of Savings Account will be the best fit for me(at HDFC). And does HDFC charge for internet banking access?

VCC dont always work you know. A actual CC is the better bet. YOu can always opt for the FD based CC options.

Talking strictly about virtual credit cards, ICICI has discontinued what they used to have, and the only I am aware of is from HDFC. It is pretty good. However, I do not recommend HDFC as a bank simply because I have had a harrowing experience dealing with them every single time I tried, inspite of having one of the premium accounts.

HDFC VCC works great for me. I am using a Nofrills - Zero balance account so no MAB requirement as well.

Does it matter if one has a MasterCard or a Visa card ? I have an ICICI Credit card which is MasterCard and have never got Visa CC.

Visa and MasterCard are two different payment processors. And so is Amex. It all depends if the merchant is ready to accept. I have Visa to be accepted everywhere, followed by MasterCard and Amex.

I have hdfc netsafe too.. never had a problem, also there's no minimum limit of the card we can make.. so its helpful in some cases

Me too. Zero balance HDFC account and have been using the their VCC for few months now. Great service without without any issues :)

Used HDFC VCC (NetSafe) at amazon.com , ebay.com , dealextreme , f1.com & Google Play Store never had any issue.

The Nofrills savings account does not have a free debit card. And for using NetSafe I have to have a debit card. Right?
So you pay Rs.100 annually for the card? Is the money directly deducted from the account balance? Do I have to remember to apply for card renewal every year or is it automatically renewed?

^ There is an annual fee for debit card even for the normal savings account.

Ya its automatically renewed and the money will be deducted from the account. Its the same for pretty much all the banks.

In all the other accounts, it mentioned International Debit Card free. So I thought that maybe the other accounts do not need to pay for the card.

^ Is it?

For No Frills its written -- International Debit Card available on request and for Regular Savings account its written -- International Debit Card

But if you check the fees page, you can see that both have the same Rs 100 + tax charge. Its just that you get a debit card by default for normal accounts whereas only an ATM card is issued for No Frills, but you can always request for a debit card.

I am using NetSafe for last 2.5 years and have created hundreds of virtual cards till now. Not a single problem yet. I use my CC mostly for online purchases and for 95% transactions so far, I have used NetSafe :)
