Hi,

The batteries of my Sukam Trusty Inverter are dying. there are 2 Sukam 150Amp batteries. Its been a little more than 2 years.

Now, can you please suggest a good 150Amp battery with expected price which can last without any issues for about 3 yrs or more?
Regards,
Paras

Panasonic Base Terminals;

Exide; :D

No clue abt the ratings and pricing though but those're some r33l good stuff; :ashamed:

Exide or Panasonic tubular battery should last much longer than your expected 3 years. Don't buy automobile battery

Although i advice everyone to go in for tubular, i myself got a normal battery, the Exide Inva 150 for Rs 8800 (I guess the price was lil discounted, normal being Rs 9500 ) coz the tubular ones were not available and would have taken almost 20 days but needed it urgently for power cuts.

ok so i have finally decided on the exide tubular batteries each costing 10800 in Noida and 10600 in Daryaganj. getting 4000 for the two old batteries and i have to change the freaking trolley too, as these batteries are 1.5 Feet in height!

the dealer is giving 30 months warranty from exide and 6 months from his own side so total 36 months warranty. he says it will last for about 5 yrs or more. he will fit the new batteries tomorrow, currently he has fitted standby batteries (sukam power bank). 4 hours and no power yet!!!

Maintenance free batteries - me thinks they are fine for automotive use but definately not for home/industrial use! Tubular is the way to go...

Hmmm... the 5 yrs claim seems to be a bit surreal to be true !
But keep ur fingers crossed and who knows :)

In fact, more than 5 years is common, if maintained well. Also the specifcation sheet for Exide EL series says-
"The designed float life of Exide EL + extends well beyonds 5 years and on an average 8 - 10 years for EL + Rnage."

Eeeekkk.... Fish !

How can it be possible, any special care ?
Plz. mention it here if any good tips to extend the life as for the normal scenario here, dealers say that normal Exide Inva should last well over 2 yrs while tubular to be about 3 yrs.

i'd say check electrolyte level frequently and clean battery terminals frequently, get the specific gravity checked every 6 months. the batteries i had were taken very good care of - all that i have mentioned above, but they died in about two years; maybe it's the frequent power cuts in noida to blame. so going tubular now. and yea the dealer says atleast 5 yrs of life in these.

Frequent deep discharge is the main culprit!

What do you guys think about amaron?

PS : usually the warranty works out to be something like this - for the first 2 years , you get a 1:1 swap , no questions asked. after that , they will give you a new battery , but you will have to pay a small amount to compensate for depreciation. so check how many years you get for free replacement

Received the new batteries yesterday

May we know the cost and warranty terms like second year, third year etc? Also, the Inva tubular ones in our office and other places where I have seen it has test tube like caps in place of the yellow caps in the picture!

the tube caps you are talking about have a kind of float inside them to check the water level. they come in normal batteries too. usually the batteries come with normal caps and the tube caps are supplied in a small packet, otherwise they can break. (this was the case with my mom's microtek inverter with a normal exide battery.)

there is a low height tubular battery too which costs 9500

these batteries set me back by 10800 X 2 for the batteries, 1000 for a new trolley minus a buyback of 2000X2 for the old batteries.

warranty terms as per the dealer were - it is known as warranty but if any fault arises the batteries are replaced with new ones during the three year warranty period and not repaired as repairing costs turns out to be more expensive for exide.

Anyway i am 100% sure there batteries are not going anywhere for 3 yrs!!!

@saintsinner

You can expect it to last much longer than the 3 years. Even the last battery in my car (Exide Freedom) lasted > 4 years and automobile batteries generally last less.
