i want to buy a mp3 cum video player and want to know which is better ipod 30 gb/creative/iriver in sound and in video quality..
 
for video i would say creative

audio is equivalent for all

ipod has touch interface so thats the major + point for me

try out all interfaces and decide for yourself
 
Depnds on the features you are looking for . Audio in terms , there is a very little difference , unless you go hunting for them . as nukeu666 points out , navigation is certainly better on the ipod . in terms of size vs features , you have an iriver which is good . creative zen vison is known for its video quality .

These players are fairly common , so i would advise you to try em out before you buy . its very easy to get infuenced when people speak about them , i feel a pmp is very as you call it a personal choice .
 
I would suggest the Creative Vision w or the archos 604 If u have no budget restrictions.

For pure video performance without any conversion troubles go for the Creative Vision M.

If u want to follow a herd mentality go for the IPOD. Because with an Ipod u have to spend extra time everytime u want to transfer something. so if u are pressed for time it will be drag.

Other than that its a personal choice (Its a PMP - personal media player) so feel all the players in the shop & pick which u find best with the background info in ur mind.

PS- I have used all four options Video IPOD, Creative vision M, Vision W & PSP too. My choice is any of the Creative players.
 
Cowon's D2 is great, tiny, touchscreen, expandable and great music quality. But its not a great video player for obvious reasons...
 
what is the price of cowon d2 ..and where is it available in mumbai..and secondly how is sandisk sansa...
 
Me too planning to go for a PMP...After much research and since i am gonna use it mostly for video viewing,I narrowed to two players : Archos 604 and Creative Zen W.....

Lemme share what I gathered after going thru the net...

Archos is the best wen i comes to video playback compatibility.Its also has DVR functionality..But the audio isn't that good and the video appears a little washed out(...no REAL blacks..but hardle noticeable) after the latest firmware upgrade...

Creative Zen V:W rises up in terms of video and audio quality. It plays almost all the video formats. Few which are not supported can be converted using the software.Only drawback is there is no DVR functionality.

I decided on creative Zen Vision W after this...

PS:

Any idea how much the Creative Zen vision W costs in Mumbai or in Chennai?
 
the sandisk sansa 8 gb model is capapable of playing video..sony is good but i feel its a bit too expensive for a 4 gb player i rather buy creative 30 gb in that price..
 
^^Exactly...for a device that needs to play Video .... 8 Gb of space is not at all sufficient...Go for a higher capacity drive...

Thats a bit steep even for a gray market..

The 30 GB version is available for $299 in the US....Thats around Rs.13k...

D2 2gb(w/o shipping) - 11586
D2 4gb(w/o shipping) - 12986

you can get it from gadgetsguru.in, or you can get from the distributor in mumbai, address is on the cowonglobal page. it's a great player, memory is highly expandable since it supports SDHC only drawback of the player is it's price.
