I am in the same state as the OP but shouldnt one wait till around March/April to see what other models get rolled out .. Why restrict your choice to these models when some new models might be on the horizon?

From what I gauge, your lookout in this segment should be:

1. Capacitive touch screen

2. WVGA Resolution

3. OLED Screen

4. Large screen area

5. Fast processor (above 800 mhz)

6. Ease of use

7. Fluid UI

8. Good camera with autofocus and atleast dual LED flash.

9. Pullout qwerty or not (your lookout)

10. Application Scene should be better than WM

^^ and all of this is in HD2 ! I dont understand why people would point fingers at it, just hit handango.com and see for yourself how many apps are available for win mo..:)

and they are mostly quality apps and not those farting kinds. just look at the gps apps section and you will be blown away. I mean you cant just beat the winmo platform.

Droid is still very capable device. Nice and fast and people who people physical QWERTY still take it over nexus.

And Nexus does support Indian 3G band. Works just fine with both MTNL and BSNL 3G.

The big problem of Android as compared to WebOS and iPhone OS is that you have different version of the OS on different device.

Right now Nexus is on 2.1 while Droid is on 2.0 and the release date of 2.1 for Droid is still not confirmed.

And the other problem is that the screen resolution, screen size and the variation of the devices due to this not all apps work properly on all devices.

Android is going to be the next Windows Mobile OS.:bleh:

My preference would be in this order Nexus One or Motorola Milestone(to be released soon)>>HTC HD2>>Nokia N900>>Omnia HD...dont go for 3gs since u have been using iphone earlier

And windows mobile still has the highest number of apps. :P

Hey an mobile OS doesn't need 100000 apps to work properly.:bleh:

If that was the case then people still would be using Windows OS and not iPhone when it was launched.:bleh:

Windows mobile 6.5 is the past and it was never intended to used for touch screen.

Let see how windows 7 will work.;)

2.0 to 2.1 incremental and mostly bug fix and minor upgrade, its not a different OS. everything that works on 2.0 works on 2.1 and for that matter most apps were patched to work with 2.x, so they work with 1.x as well.

ANd you dont have to wait for Motorola to release 2.1 for droid. You can run it today (you could run it in december :P )

The apps scale to different screen resolutions.

@kaps2010 : You might wanna rephrase your comment above.

WM was always meant for touch screen, it wasnt meant to be finger touch / capacitive touch friendly ;)

And BTW OP has already bought Nexus :P

That's what WM 6.5.3 is for :P

Anyways glad this discussion ended with the OP getting a Nexus. ;)

We always beat each other's brains out with WM vs Android vs OSX vs what not. Wouldn't be fun any other way :D

Btw I was meaning Capacitive Touch screen only,it had supported resistive screen since long time(missed the word):)

Only thing about Android is that you have to do all the things yourself.

For ex: The updates are not given by the manufacture but you have to do yourself.

To be frank Android is for the geeky people.:ohyeah:

so finally everyone will here will stop posting about which phone to get for op.:bleh:

Says who?
Updates are given by the manufacturer. Nexus one will even get over the air updates directly from google just like G1, Magic and Dream. The good thing is, the new kernel / roms leak out before its officially available from the manufacturer. And its perfectly legal as this is open source :P

So you get to play with different roms from different devs. But that is entirely upto end user.

hehe, seems Nexus One is the thing to savor for the moment and decided on it. :D

I wasn't particularly keen on feature sets, just wanted to get an awesome looking, standing out set....iphone was getting too known among ppl and thats the only reason am upgrading even though it was just perfect for my needs.

and thanx for all the suggestions regarding HD2- seems like i will be getting one if i can get money for that too.
