yes i quoted him (doh) and it was from a speech, after all the mutual copying though, mac still looks better As far as linux goes, its not anything to rave about if you look past the desktop. Nautilus still doesn't feel half as good as Windows Explorer. But its awfully good for something thats free

Have you tried Konqueror KDE ? Just use them and yuou will know whats a real UDV is all about

You CAN make linux look good, but by default it is nowhere near mac.

I find it amusing that so many find OSX "the most advanced" OS since it is derived from Linux.. or is in fact a shell over Linux. Apple is smart and know a good thing when it sees one, hence the switch to Linux...... it is far more robust and can be re-engineered just the way they like it.

Anyway, in terms of looks, before anyone else again starts talking about features, performance, and whatnot, Linux is a relic. It's a fossil. Sure, there are great add-ons like Compiz Fusion but these don't tie into the overall look and feel. Whether or not Apple and Microsoft have dedicated teams working only on design and aesthetics has nothing to do with the absolute result. Mac OS X is the best-looking OS out there, and I don't think anything's going to catch up for a while.

There is no linux under oS-X AFAIK.

The bedrock is BSD, there may be 'linux codes(sic)' in it but not in the core.

So by that measure isn't OS-X more BSD than Linux ?

UNIX is a myth

Linux and BSD are different. GNU uses many BSD apps ported.so GNU/Linux too.BUT Linux != BSD!=winblow$

I think it is like........(searching analogy...got it! ) we had a Philips Skipper FM Transistor Radio back in 1979 when FM hardly understood by Indians.

Similarly , Linux is way too good for current generation to appreciate it

Agreed, both are UNix derivatives.

Lots of time has passed since the old UNIX days, that these too have their own unique identities now.
