i think MTNL / IQARA are better...

who woudnt want???

I Think Iqara is too exp for the Plans they offer. But they sure have good CC. Actually i experience extreme Downtime recently(for like 10days). The modem would just go offline every 5min then get online again after sometime. But now it doesnt happen MUCH.

though i hate bsnl...

i`d suggest for all ur requirements if its not airtel go for bsnl
go for the ul plan its 900 monthly. 24/7 ul.
u can also get the modem from them..

use it till airtel is available and then if possible shift to airtel

i dont think others will give u a similar performance... bsnl is adsl and the others are cable.. adsl gives u better and more assured speeds... when compared to cable...

bsnl gives u 256k ul for 900 and i dont think anyone else has a similar plan except for airtel...

sify imposes a 150mb/day limit.

indicom is above ur budget and its cable so not my choice.

mtnl and iq i`ve never used they are not available in my city.

I will call BSNL by today n check for details, i have a BSNL landline so i wont hve a problem.

Just wanted to ask, though they say its a 256kbps will it give me guarrenteed downloads speeds of 32kbps. Do they have have problematic Downtimes.

^^BSNL is usually trouble free and has great speeds but the pings arent too good. Tata Indicom also has 256 kpbs UL for 1100 Rs per month, and pings were good. But recently the pings have become very high from what ive heard. Wait for anyone using it to confirm this.

@shadow chaser killer

you are also from surat like i am.

my first advise would be to stay away from IAQRA at any cost in surat. i have had horrible experiences with them even if paying hefty sums to them for service.

VSNL is still unstable in surat and they have not good enough plans.

Tata Indicam broadband is different from VSNL even though controlled by same people and i do not know they h1ave started operations in surat. if yes they have good reputation in mumbai.

MTNL : as per my knowledge operates only in mumbai and delhi so its outta question here.

This only leaves BSNL and AIRTEL here.

BSNL : i have been using its service for last one year and i am highly satisfied . and the service is good and they are prompt in tackling customer complaints. (i am in varachha exchange which exchange does cover you?)

AIRTEL : they are about to launch the services in surat soon. as the monsoon ends and they get clearance to digup roads they will start rolling out their services then.

so i would advise you to go for bsnl ul 900 pm plan right now.

or other option would be to get bsnl home plans 250/500 one and also get an Iqara connection for night angel plan for 499 and u/l 256 kbps from 10 pm to 8 am.

hope this helps you

No home ISP In the world will give you a speed guarantee :P

(which is why ISP plans alsways state speeds as upto xyz kbps/mbps)

But with a good 256kbps conn., you can expect 28+ K speeds from good servers at all times...

Yeah i totally agree. The best thing about Iqara is that they offer good Customer Care, everything else S****. Good to hear that Airtel is coming to Surat :hap2: :hap2: , will jump to that right away when they launch it here. But for now i will try BSNL, just called a Agent (bsnl) n will be Coming here in 30min.

Also about TATA, yes they have launched their BB in Surat, but they offer only Postpaid Plans, Prepaid plans are not yet available. I also found those cheaper, atleast to Iqara.

So now i narrow down my choice to these two.

BSNL or TATA.

So wht will it be.

Here are the Tariffs.

For TATA

Tata Indicom Broadband

For BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Tata used to be 1600 plus tax but has now gone down to 1200 plus tax. So comes to 1347 per month all inclusive. One big benefit of TATA is that you get a 1:1 connection with a static IP. What this means is you are more or less guaranteed to get the entire 256kbps. Pings were screwed up for a while but they are back to normal now :). I really like the fact that my tata connection has only gone down once for an hour in the last 8 months or so since I got it. Downtimes are virtually non existent.

Yeah i have heard good things about TATA's 1:1 Connection. Does bsnl offer this.

I also use Tata Indicom. And with static IP u got no problems with Rapidshare :P.. Also speed is up to the mark and i did not have more that 1 hr downtime in last 6 months...

Also BSNL is good. 900 plan is good but is 900 including tax or not please check.

And both use ADSL.

Don't know why prople say BSNL is bad. Only their CC is bad.
Otherwise they provide rocksolid connection stability and the best download speeds of all isp's (always 2-3k more than the cap).

Airtel is only good in the south. In my city, BSNL pings are lower than Airtel by as much as 30ms and no 2x bandwidth at night either.

That's TRUE!

Just found out I have the Airtel Broadband available in my society, thinking of switching over from Sify to Airtel.

I was actually considering Tata Broadband, any insight on the difference between the 2 fellahs?

Tata is a 1:1 connection as someone mentioned, and you need an Airtel Line + Modem for the Airtel BB connection too.

I just despise this shitty cable connection I have atm, thinking of hopping over to Airtel BB, any insight would be appreciated :P
