Laptops Which Lappy to get from US?

yup. He likes it too. He'll be going to US this weekend for 3 months. So, he'll wait for a month for reviews of this lappy (and that of 8600M GT) to come out and then buy it.

the new Inspirons seem to be cheaper on the Dell India site...
at least the 1330 definitely is !

Hmm, interesting that the 1330 is cheaper in India then the US. U sure this is for the same config?

OT, so planning on getting one? ;)

It is for the same config...

The base config on the India site is a 5250 with a LED screen (slim) 160 GB and 1 yr complete cover

add a 8400 and it comes to arnd 62-63K

The base config on the US site is 1299 but without a LED screen ...wit hthe same setup as above, it touches the $1700 mark

Since there are never any discount coupons on the XPS (unlike Inspirons), the India prices are a lot sweeter

I was actually thinking of selling my 1210 to get the 1330 but then decided against it after seeing comparison pics against the 1210..

it's a lil too big for my liking

Probably not worth the effort to sell the 1210 and then get a bigger laptop in the bargain..

unless of course someone actually comes asking for the 1210 and saves me the hassle of looking for a buyer ;) that would tempt me...lol..j/k

I customized Dell 1520 on India website as well. At the US site, the configuration cost $1400 and in India it cost ~Rs 61000 exclusive of taxes. So, Dell is offering these laptops at killer prices in India.

BTW, how much is the tax in India?

But 1330 only comes with Nvidia 8400M GS and with 2 GB RAM it's cost is quite high.

I customized 1520 with 2GB RAM and Nvidia 8600M GT for $1400, so it seems like a good deal.

Waiting for the reviews to come up....

superczar would still tell you to go for the 1330 cuz of its size:P.. i'd agee with him though. 15.4" is a tad bit too much for my liking

not only coz of the size....

XPS is to Inspirons the way Lexus is to Toyota

The quality, the construction, the parts, the look & feel and most of all, the screen of the XPS series is on a different level altogether in comparison to Inspirons

Don't forget that unlike Desktops, the paper specs are of relatively much lower importance for laptops

and last but not the least, a 13.3" will obviously be more expensive than a 15.4"

^ Probably right there. I haven't used a XPS myself so cant really comment on that..

Yup, XPS is better on the build quality side and style too(if that wasnt pretty evident! :P)

Though, if gaming performance is wat u want, then the Dell 1520 with the 8600M GT would kinda smoke the 1330..

Anyhowm, the new Dell inspiron series build quality is not that bad and better the prev gen with Magnesium alloy external covers making it more durable so it aint a bad choice after all if thats wat u prefer..
