Why not check up on the price of the 42 inch Samsung Plasma? Plasma's will rock the socks off any LCD display...

well.. its a decent website from tv18 stable.. gives u the option browse and compare products online and if interested u can get in touch with the dealers (advertised on their site) to buy the products.

The sony is not expensiv , infact if u notice even the mrp of the sony is the least of the lot!

~80k.. Out of budget.
Not rock the socks in all departments.. I respectfully disagree... ;)
If it's a Kuro or the newer Panasonic plasmas, then yes. But if it's an LG or Samsung plasma, it's much more even.

Damn I had no idea. Thats friggin costly. a 55 inch plasma (Panasonic) sells at the equivalent of Rs 43K in Japan. I'd have thought it'd be 65K tops here. And this is 13 inches smaller.

Plasma's have much more natural colours unlike the over rich, saturated crap that most LCDs do, and the DNIe and such stuff is overhyped and just makes tones vivid, which is unrealistic. Also HD content (I've viewed 1440p on a Plasma and an LCD) looks much better. This was a Sony Bravia 42 inch VS a 65 inch Panasonic plasma.

Also as you cross 42 inches in size, plasmas get better VFM vis a vis LCDs

But I agree with you for "regular" plasma panels :)

Guys.. My budget is around 60K.

I was more interested in LG because of its response time. Dont you guys think that the 5ms response time will be better while watching Sports channels.
