Which mobile phone to buy !

I personally have tried the P1i and found it to be extremely useful. My friend has a W960i , but swears the P1i is better at least in terms of stability. I'll be picking up the P1i in a couple of months time :)

iPhone/SE P1i/E71 (In that order).

That's about it, there's isnt really any other decent smartphone right now. I'm using the P990i, and its excellent! Its not sluggish, packed to the grill with features and very very usable.

Well, going by your requirements I don't think you would need a phone costing more than 20k. iPhone 3G, HTC Touch Diamond and Nokia N96 are not worth increasing your budget for.

Personally If I were looking for a PDA Phone, I wouldn't touch the HTC Touch Diamond or Nokia N96. N96 is more of a feature rich media phone and Touch Diamond is too compact to get any serious work done on the phone. As for iPhone its a PDA phone alright, but it lacks several critical features which I would definitely like to have especially if I am spending 30k on it.

I would also not recommend any of Nokia's Symbian based phones as most of them are sluggish due to the slow processors used.

If you want a PDA phone go for the SE P1i or if you are really that keen on an iPhone go for the 2G model. iPhone 3G is not worth the price difference for just the 3G support and a few improvements. From what I have heard, Apple's strategy would be to release a new iPhone every year. This way they would be getting existing consumers to buy a new iPhone every year for the sake of a very few but critical features. So, by the time 3G networks stabilize in India, Apple would have released one or two more iterations of iPhone.

If you do not want a PDA phone, but would like to have a phone with bling factor and media features, why don't you try those flash UI phones from Samsung and LG.

Well i knw Switch sir very well,he'll buy the best.......He doesn't believe in spending money on mobile phones n mp3 players(lyk i do :P) he prefers spending money on his pc......

Do you know what CPU P1i uses?
The P1 still uses the ARM9-based Nexperia NX4008 CPU clocked at 208 MHz, Whereas most the latest Nokia S60 Smartphones (E n N series) use ARM 11 clocked at 369 MHz.
And as to the speed and response of the P1i, just check the snippets for the search results, strangely, all of them speak in a similar tone - Sony P1i CPU - Google Search

Switch sir, for your needs the best option would be the E66, its a classy phone with all the features u listed 3MP cam, wifi, office applications etc.., I got my dad the E65, he totally loves it, alltho is complaining that its gotten too sluggish for his liking, cause he like stores a zillion contacts and sms's on his fone! anyways this one is the next version, just launched a month back. Its for 20k just about slots into ur budget.

If you more of a 'younger' attitude phone n95 8gb would be an excellent option, I have the original n95, and am pretty satisfied with it.

I really think the E66 would be the best for you, check it out.

PS- Man ur married, and u still game!..I hope my future wife will also be as understanding, some guys have it all!

You have not mentioned whether you prefer a candy bar or slider form factor. Maybe that will eliminate some options ;) .

And IMO, the Nokia N series are too delicate because of all the features packed into them. The Asus P527 and SE higher end models seemed more sturdy to me but I'll leave it to the experts to comment about this.

Nokia E series seems to have decent build quality last time I looked :). E51 - a nice, practical model worth around 11.5K.

@Switch:- Just some tips after me and some of my friends burnt our hands on mobiles. First off please get a mobile with a big battery, the reason is that if you use the mobile for all the bells and whistles then there is a possibility that you will run outta battery power pretty soon. Actually I'm done with smart phones and all big ass phones and now I'm snug with a Nokia 3120 Classic. Lets see how long this fone will survive with me :bleh:

I second your comments at least regarding N95 8 gb, which is also owned by me. I have seen E71 but feel very small keys

Okey... Here is what "I" think of N series... Specially N95 and N82... They are both crap... Here is why...

1. One fall and its gone... Dont trust me come and look at my friends N95 which accidentally dropped when he was putting it in his trouser pocket... The camera key came off and it just about restarts every time he is in a middle of call... He eventually bought a new phone after using N95 for six months...

2. N82 is owned by one of my cousin on TE... I guess he was using the phone for almost two months before i saw it... It looked like a 1 year old phone... Come on a 20K phone is not supposed to lose its shine in 2 months... I mean all the edges were faded... And if you guys say that well he didn't maintain his phone like he should have then come on guys... Its a entertainment gadget for gods sake... it is supposed to be used for almost 3+ hours a day if you are music freak... And if edges of the phone starts fading off in 2 months then its a cheap build in my opnion... Also imagine its condition after 2+ years cause i for one would like to keep it for that long...

3. Also i have used and surfed on a N82/N95 and on a iPhone with wifi and nothing comes close to an iphone... I usually prefer my laptop over my desktop for surfing but i would definately prefer my iphone for my long night surfing sessions over my lappy as my lappy(like all lappies) gets hot but nothing like using an iphone on bed :)... Btw try filling a form or making a post on TE on a N82/N95... Its a big PITA... Specially N82... What are those keys anyways... Chopped off fingernails i suppose...

4. Also rPok showed me the other day how to use an iphone as a remote for your PC for playing movies/music... OMG i was like dude this rocks... I have a 24" monitor and a lot of HD movies with a decent speaker setup... Imagine the possibilities... HTPC done and dusted... The most tricky part the remote gets done just like that ;)

5. Yes i do believe in superczar when he says that he loves something cause i for one trusts his judgment... He is a true gadget freak with access to stuff unlike some of the others i know who don't... He is a guy who knows his stuff... Yes i am sold for an iphone... And i will be getting one real quick... Only if i can find a good deal...

I just don't want to get the official version cause of my phone bill... I almost get about a 100 calls a day and my outgoing talktime is almost 2-5 minutes a day... I don't mind spending 30K for a iphone(yes i seriously don't as of now) but listen to this... Today i received my monthly vodaphone postpaid bill and the amount is Rs 555.35... I don't think that after getting the iphone my bill will remain that much...

Also Nokia 5800 will bomb when it will hit the streets... Mainly cause of the processor speed... It just sucks by the look of the videos...
