there is 1 more reason for using WMP11 with vista.

I have all my pcs including wifi pc connected with wifi.

WMP allows me to play contents from all the pcs on any PC using wifi. No special setup is required. which gives great flexibility to me. I can play my songs from main pc onto my MCP without need of those special wifi media devices.

at the office I use my T610 + creative EP630/Sony MDR XD200 cos my new Office PC has a sigmatel onboard which doesnt allow kernel streaming

but i dont mind, its an X2 5200+ with quadro gfx :bleh:

Since then, it has been my ever faithful music player of choice for its sheer user friendliness, configurability and plugin support...and though i dont use it for playing video, it has got tht capability too for the last few years..i really dont care about skins as i keep it minimized, but tht feature is gr8 for some ppl.. so, the point is...its almost like second nature now.
See if this was till 2002, you'd be fine but in 2007, i think winamp is too long in the tooth. Since you know winamp prolly a lot better than me, i stopped with 2.91 and went with a music library manager. That allowed me to get more detailed in how i listen and do stuff. Winamp & windows explorer is fine till you get to a certain point where you can't see the forrest for the trees. Hierarchical displays like win explorer are not scalable. Everyone's got a different pain threshold.

..but of late, i've seen too many foobar converts on other forums and on TE as well...So i finally gave into the temptation and downloaded it too..after trying it out for sometime..i'm thinking..wots so gr8 about it?? :S I mean, i had some trouble getting used to the interface first as i cudnt find the volume control..so when i played a song on it, the blaring sound almost had me jump out of my seat...
i did too a few years ago, its nice but not very user frinedly, you can get it do all most anything if you could find the time to politely ask it to.

It's bit tough to get into FB2k if you're not technically inclined. Thing is i did not want to spend too much time with this as i wanted to get more techinical about the music rather than the app i was using to listen to, so i went with this player. Not free but then you did not restrict it to that anyway. I've been on it ever since, works great, would kick iTunes in the nuts and then some.

..so, i ask all u foobar fans to pls tell me what makes it a better player than Winamp??
Like with most things this largely depends on what you need to get done. If you get by with winamp then why do you need to change. You have to outgrow your app, feel restricted enough to want to look for an alternative.

Have you reached this point yet ?

Foobar --> Foo AVA [mostly]
Winamp 5 sometimes.

Yep for me also the same.

Anyone use ZOOM Player pro? Its also very customizable and plays a great deal of file types both audio and video.... Decent performance.

Lol..maybe yes, maybe not...i'm not sure..:P its just tht i've been using it for so long tht it has almost become like second nature...so if has to be music on my pc, it has to winamp..just that...:P But yeah, of late, seeing so many foobar converts n words of praise for it had made me a bit curious...thts why i decided to try it..but the first experience was not the best, i can say..neways, after tinkering around a lil bit, n with help from foobar blogs n fourms, i was able to tweak it a little bit to suit my needs n now, u can say, i'm a bit more comfortable with it..but still not to the point tht i may dump winamp n go for it...since even now, i keep pressing the winamp shortcuts while playing foobar...'J' being the most common key i keep pressing all the time for changing songs without noticing tht its foobar n not winamp tht i'm currently using...:P

So yeah, maybe it;ll take more time, n a lot more than the UI customization to keep me interested in Foobar..cos at the end of the day, what matters is the music n how well its being played rather than the interface n the tweaks ...;)

Till then Winamp n Foobar can harmoniously reside in my system...

Windows Media Player 11, and absolutely love it. Plays everything and is full of useful features.

or you can simply share your media folders on all the PCs and queue them up on the playlist of any player of your choice on your MCP without being tied down to WMP

Ryan, right click > enqueue after current.
I dont see any option in foobar when i rightclick on a song to enqueue after current..:( U sure its thr in default Foobar, or i need to install a plugin for tht enqueue feature?

F3 in foobar... been there since ages.
Well,, obviously the F3 search is known, but it only allows to jump to the song and doesnt allow to move after current playing song like in Winamp..

Its "Add to Playback Queue".

And in the search window (F3), when you click on a song, it is focussed on in the playlist, and you can right click and enqueue it.
