I have a dell Inspiron E1505 which takes SATA 1.5 (150MBPS) HDD.
I wanted to get a 500GB HDD, but only SATA 3.0 are available.
Now in theory a SATA 3.0 drive is supposed to work with SATA 1.5, but its not always true. Therefore I started searching for HDD drives which have jumper settings for SATA 1.5 mode.
I only found Seagage 500GB 2.5" HDD which has a jumper setting to force it to SATA 1.5 mode.
I searched websites of Toshiba/Hitachi/Samsung and WD but could not find any details about jumper settings. I am sure these HDD makers also have some kind of jumper settings. I searched for user manual also, but no such luck.
Any advice?
The reason I was gravitating towards toshiba is because at 85$ its the cheapest, and is also known to be the quietest. Seagate is around 110$ for same capacity.
