ANP !!!

Explorer
Its not much time since i upgrade my current rig.
Almost evrything decided. But i m yet to decide wht GPU to get.
Can u ppl help me out.

Notes:-
1)I dont care about noise
2)I dont care about size
3)I dont care about power requirements
4)I dont care about Driver Quality
5)I dont care about Pakage Contents
But,6)I do care about high temps

Currently I have a Samsung 17" so i will be most prob playing at 1280x1024. But in something about jan07 i will be getting a Dell 2407FP.

Any bit of Advise truly appreciated
FYI i m going to get one of these from US, So kindly dont ask me price.

btw My first post yay :hap2:

Welcome to Tech Enclave ! Please introduce yourself at the Introduction Longue.

The 1900 xt without a doubt is better. But temps are higher than the 7900 Gtx.

x1900xt obviously... it should do better in future games and is potentially cheaper to boot. It does run hot at around 85 degrees(this is the xtx temperature, xt will be lower) under heavy load but it really doesn't matter since the chip is designed to take those sort of temperatures.

have a look at xbitlabs.com/articles/video, 1900XT review

1900XT is for 37k here and 7900gtx arnd 32k
but in the US 7900GTX is more expensive than the 1900XT

i havent seen direct comparison benchmarks. but if u compare a xt to the gtx i think the gtx is better but not by a huge margin.

2ndly the prices in india of gtx are lower than the xt so i suggest u buy the 7900gtx.

both cards will work fine in future games, i dont agree with chaos that x1900xt will perform better than a gtx in future games.

Theres absolutely no way the 7900GTX is priced 32K in India. look here(link). there can be a 2-3K diff from the online stores but not 18K.

btw i m going to buy from US so these price really dont matter to me a bit.

so one more vote for the x1900xt

^^ Nah in shader heavy games XT would be better. not to forget HDR + AA

HDR + AA is one of the main reasons i m liking the xt. Why cant nV cards do HDR+AA is it all in its architectural or its just there badluck.

Don't tell me you are blind to the oblivion benches that are pasted all over the web . A single X1900XTX owns an SLI 7900GTX pair in minimum framerate.

so u buy your card according to the min benchmarks of just 1 game? also avg framerate is what matters & not the min framerate.

given a choice i myself would buy x1900xt compared to gtx cause of the price diff its almost 100$. but i still dont agree what u said that x1900xt will be better in future games, it should remain similar like it is now apart from some games obviously in which xt will remain ahead & some in which gtx will remain ahead.

not to mention the price mentioned that gtx is for 32k & xt for 37k. i doubt anyone would buy the xt for 37k when a similar card is available for 32k.

How about a framerate sequence like this.... 80 2 75 6 8 99 140 and another framerate sequence like this 45 70 56 50 60 56 49. Both have nearly the same average framerate but which one would you prefer gaming on? Thats exactly what is happening in oblivion. The 7900 series drops the framerates to 15-16fps at times which makes the game unplayable even though the average fps is high. Its not just oblivion, its the same story with GRAW, FEAR and a few other next gen games which have lots of pixel shader math... x1900 owns the 7900. Hell you don't need any games... write a simple pixel shader that calculates a fractal or does some procedural texturing... the ati card will simply crush the nv card.

I contacted Zebronics and they quoted about 30k + tax or 31k + tax for 7900GTX Leadtek with 3yrs warranty.

xbitlabs.com/articles/video, 1900XT review compares 7900GTX also(maybe)

Hmmmm, But i think it must be the price of GT not gtx, no trust me. It cant be that cheap. :bangin: but if anyone else agrees with ur price then i lose.

The 7900GT is for 20k + tax and GT Extreme for 21500 + tax

All prices are of Zebronics(Leadtek cards, 3yrs warranty)

The 7900GTX is for 31+ tax and this is not cheap

Another vote for the X1900 XT. its gonna be much better for future games than the 7900 GTX except for Opengl games maybe which have always been nvidia's strongpoint but with the x1800 onwards ati has massively reduced this lead and with AA and AF enabled they even overtake nvidia. And HDR+AA is gonna be a big thing. i woudlnt wanna miss out on it. Thats why even i myself got an X1800 GTO instead of a 7600 GT.

If ur worried abt temps, get this HIS Hightech Radeon X1900XT H190XTQ512DVN Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com

The HIS IceQ3 cooling is very good. Gives lower temps than the stock cooler and also much lower noise.
