Graphic Cards Which of these is better!!! x1900xt or 7900gtx

1900XT all the way... its gonna be useful in shader intensive games like F.E.A.R..the ring bus memory architecture rocks.. @ hunt3r HDR + AA is a big factor too ..

@ chaos - although i havent seen such numbers of 7900 which u have mentioned on 2-3 of the review sites when i had checked the review. any link?

the point being again guys. as i also said before that i would prefer x1900xt. "BUT" gtx for 32k & xt for 37k. as far as i go, i wouldnt spend 30k on a gfx card that is available for 20k in usa. a premium of 3- 4k is fine for high end stuff, but 37k is too much

@ aces - ya the x1800xt 512 mb for around 300$ is amazing, thats the 1 i would buy cause it will easily last till the end of year without any problems.

any idea if the x1800xt is available here?

The votes say it all...

But since ur getting it from the US try to get the XTX.

Only 50$ more, but a lot more Bragging rights :D.

Also, if you Plan to OC, XT Cores may be speed binned, while XTX's arent.

@ Storm, theres no use going for the X1800XT, rather get a X1900XT, since the 16 Pixel Shaders, vs. the 48 in the X1900's make a BIG difference.

but if you are on a budget then the X1800XT is simply superb VFM.... it is now down to 269$.... You could not get a better deal at that price!!!

x1900xt obviously... it should do better in future games and is potentially cheaper to boot. It does run hot at around 85 degrees(this is the xtx temperature, xt will be lower) under heavy load but it really doesn't matter since the chip is designed to take those sort of temperatures.
yeah agree.. as much as i hate ta :bleh: , but Nvidia's chips are more efficient and the 7900GTX don't heat up at all...:D. I'd say Nvidia has the edge, what with 24 PP as compared to ATI's 48 :P
All in all for sheer IQ and speed the X1900XT is better....

flame warsssss..... bring em on...

Aditya: One can easily voltmod a xt to a xtx. Theres absolutely no point in buying a xtx if you can get the same results at a low price. and yes i m going to OC every bit of hardware in my rig.

:No doubt nV cards were efficient, but now the pic has somewhat completly changed. ATI cards are now almost up to the par in physical quality. ATI do create a lot of heat but their card are so perfectly built that they can live at those high temp for a very long time. ATI have 16 PP not 48, PP n PS are all diff things.
But do u get it, ATIs 16PP card outperforms nVs 24PP cards.:wtf:

Thats coz the Pixel Shaders matter.. ATi's architecture is much better as well.

Your rig already says you have a X1900XT.. WtH? :S.

Can we know which guy voted for the 7900GTX?

Err I thought both run at 1.425 vcore :S. Also there is nothing like voltmodding an X1800/X1900. The voltages can be controlled thru software.

^^ Thats what even i though.

Chaos, any idea if the XT Cores a Speed binned though?

What I know for sure is that they don't overclock as well as the XTX cores. The rest is all very speculative and sketchy.

^^Worth it only if you are gonna cool it with DI/LN2/phase change. Otherwise it really doesn't make much sense unless you are getting a ridiculously good deal like I did :p.

^^Running at stock... I really don't need more performance :P. I'd be cpu limited most of the times anyway. I get load temps of around 85 with the fan speed set by the driver. If I use ATItool to up the fan speed to around 80%, the card never breaks 71-72.

Another vote for the X1900 XT. its gonna be much better for future games than the 7900 GTX except for Opengl games maybe which have always been nvidia's strongpoint but with the x1800 onwards ati has massively reduced this lead and with AA and AF enabled they even overtake nvidia. And HDR+AA is gonna be a big thing. i woudlnt wanna miss out on it. Thats why even i myself got an X1800 GTO instead of a 7600 GT.

Read properly mate, ive mentioned that :D

I dont really get the point of getting an XTX, it'll be what 5% faster than the XT for like almost 15% more. And from what ive read, most XTX's and XT's overclock similarly with the XT's at max 10-15 mhz more on the core. And even if they overclock more than the XT what difference is one or two frames gonna make. If u ask me the best beal right now is the X1800XT 512 MB for $299, but if u can spend more, get the HIS IceQ3 X1900 XT. Add that as an option and thats what i'll vote for :D

Actually i m already way over my budget. Previously i was going to buy a x1800xt but then i decided i will spend all my saved money n get a x1900xt. That HIS u mentioned is very exp, n i dont wanna increase my budget anymore. I have already made arrangment to cool my case with lots of fans (i will mod my case :hap2: ) So i will make sure atleast the ambient temp remains very low.

[Edit]btw wht is the purpose of the cooler does it exhausts the hot air or does it intake cold air n blow it on the HS.
