After much hunting want to finalize ASUS P5Q as the Board to Upgrade (ABit IP35E was at Close 2nd Position :bleh: )...any ways now there are many diff variants are available in Market and cant make my decision , please help me choosing on
Asus P5Q Motherboard - Rs.8,510
Asus P5Q Pro Motherboard - Rs.9,180
Asus P5Q-E Motherboard - Rs.10,520

Next 3 variants are out of my reach :@

Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard - Rs.12,249
Asus P5Q3 Deluxe WiFi Motherboard - Rs.14,872
Asus P5Q Premium Motherboard - Rs.19,600
(Prices taken from techshop.in)

Please let me know which one to go for , my best bet will be Vanilla P5Q but if “Pro†or “E†are gonna provide some drastic improvement can surely consider them.

P5Q-E IMO.

It is certainly better than the Pro and Vanilla versions as per the reviews.

Spending around 2k more for the Deluxe may/may not be good. :P

EPU 6 engine might be a notch good and well thats about it.

I luv the board except for the placement of those SATA connectors!! Pathetic!!!

The P5Q pro is as good as E bro, just upgrade the mBIOS to 1406 and u have all the functionalities of Deluxe or E.

Supra said it, has some better mem OC now can take the performance level higher. so check it out.

^^i dont know what exactly the E offers over the pro in terms for daily use and moderate overclocking

other than benching sessions, how would it be any benifit as they all can do 400+fsb

plz enlighten me :ashamed:

In my opinion, the E has better cooling, a cleaner board layout, especially with the SATA ports. It also has onboard power and reset switches.

Like i said, the PRO is a great board too, however spending a little bit more gives you a few nice features! :) . I bought the PRO because there were no E boards in stock, but no regrets either way.

Ok this is getting too technical....let me tell about my current config..i am using a E4500 and 2 gigs of Value Ram(Planning for XMS2 / OCZ in future) along with that i have a 9600 GSO  ..so my basic perpose of upgrade is want a mobo which will run w/out any hiccups for least 6 months or a Year...will be OCing it just for the Heck of it ...mainly using it for Gaming/Video Encoding (my 945 really :cens2: at these fronts :ashamed:)...considering this only coz Abit is quitting the market :bye2: & dont know about the future of IP35E:no: .. so now please suggest me which 1 to go for

^^ My system consumes 156W with monitor, at idle or whilst downloading Overclocked @3.8Ghz 24/7. How much more power savings could one ask on a higher end board with the rig in my signature? And this too is without any ASUS powersaving Utils installed, not that I want any more..

The only real differences I can see are(These are only in P5Q-E):

2nd Network port

Has one PCI-e 4x instead of PCI

eSATA

More Copper :-)

16Gb RAM support compared to 8Gb

OnBoard Switch nice if you have your system open or OC alot.

Better Audio (maybe)

So is it worth the extra Rs? Get a better cooler or more Ram is what I would do.

I took the P5Q-PRO

Cheers,

Can I put GX 260 card in P5Q-E ?? Does it interfare with the SATA port??

Yes, u can put GX 260 on almost any board having PCI Express x16 slot ( used specifically for discrete graphics cards/ GPUs). Its been a std for last few yrs so u will find this slot on even cheapest of the boards ( version may be different though, 1.0 or 2.0)
PCI Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sata has nothing to do with it, used for connecting sata hdds. Though development is going on for using high speed sata ports for IO devices, i suppose.

Yes, you can use it without problem n there are ample sata ports. The long card (10.5 " ones) would most probably block 2-3 ports.

There is a problem with the GFX, i had to use the alternate slot to install the gfx (HD4850)as the ram and wires were really creating a problem. Besides that the P5q-E is a an excellent board. go for it, provided you find the borad avaliable in the market
