I'm planning on a small upgrade here.

I just wanted to ask, would a 31st week 3000+ be better or a 3500+ ?

Primary concern is OC'ing, I would want to run it @ around 2.4 Ghz stable, 24x7...

Please reply fast, I wan't to order the proccessor ASAP...

Buy a new 3500+ instead of a old 31st week 3000+.

look Udit... 3000,32000 and 3500 have more or less the same OC'ing limit/

He can save a few thousand rupees by buying a 3000. In the end, both will oc to around the same level.

^ Yep absolutely, you need to know more about which stepping this week 31 proc is . Google the week & stepping to find any OC results from users with similar steppings to get an idea about how high it can go.

On a positive note, most Venice's tend to do 2.4Ghz at the very least.

Got a 0531 BPBW for Sunny. Looked it up in Google and saw that it had done 3.3 GHz at 1.77v with Phase Change ( Think so ) here. Lucky bugger u, Sunny.

Well Phase Change = HUGE DEAL ;)
Reaching and staying at that speed is problem. A big problem with anything other than subzero. I cooked a 0517 couple of weeks ago in that attempt :P

Well, in that case 2.4 should not be a problem at all for that stepping. Might even do 2.6 like Ed's without too much volts.

Hmm, dealers in B'lore don't have any 31st week parts left, the 3000+ is selling like hot cakes now...

Any idea about the week 39 Venices ? I can't find anything in Google...

I think this is the proccy LBBEW 0539 DPAW will call the dealer and confirm later.

P.S : Thanks Switch :D ! BTW guys, whats the meaning of a 1.5V AGP slot ?

AGP 1.0 = 1x/2x = 3.3v
AGP 2.0 = 1x/2x/4x = 3.3v/1.5v keyed, or Universal
AGP 3.0 = 1x/2x/4x/8x = 1.5v keyed or Universal

The Week 39's suck at OC'ing. Found one thro' Google doing 2.4 at 1.65v.

The 1.5v AGP slot is the normal one that u find in boards now. 1.5v is the default voltage for AGP operation and 3.3v is the one for PCI-E.

the problem for you guys is that lots of new steppings are flooding the market. And there is not solid database of these steppings. Its not pure luck.

And its always been the case with AMD that initial weeks are better overclockers for perticular core or revision and as time goes by for some odd reason overclocking ability is lost.

Happened with nuke, winnies, E3 and now E6.

^^ Hmm, so what do you suggest Funky cause there are about 5-6 weeks selling in B'lore at the moment and I need to give my dealer a word...

pickup whats available and hope for the best. Thats all i can suggest.

If you could get the stepping then please do so and post it here and PM me too if possible. If in luck we might just find some record of that stepping.

The other option is be on a lookout for sale of older stepping or pretested CPUs. Thats all you can do at the moment.
